FIRST AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE CITY OF WATSONVILLE
AND THE PUBLIC SAFETY MID-MANAGEMENT UNIT
THIS FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT TO MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING is made and entered into this 26 th day of May , 2009 by
and between the CITY OF WATSONVILLE, a municipal corporation, hereafter referred
to as “City”, and the PUBLIC SAFETY MID-MANAGEMENT UNIT, hereafter referred
to as the “Unit” representing police Sergeants and Lieutenants.
RECITALS
WHEREAS, on April 24, 2007, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 81-07
(CM), approving the 2007-2010 Memorandum of Understanding between the City and
the Unit: and
WHEREAS, the City and the Unit wish to amend such MOU to extend the
contract term and revise the medical insurance coverages and salary sections; and
WHEREAS, The City and the Unit wish amend the investigation schedule to
reflect current practice and restate the terms and conditions that apply to that section; and
WHEREAS, this First Amendment to the MOU between the City and the Unit is
in the best interest of the City of Watsonville and its Unit employees.
NOW THEREFORE, the City and the Unit agree that the 2007-2010 MOU shall
be amended as follows:
1.0 GENERAL PROVISIONS
1.1 Effective April 24, 2007, and continuing through and including June 30,
2012, this Memorandum contains all items agreed upon by and between
the City and the Association.
1.4 The Unit may, at its sole discretion, opt out of the remaining one year
term of the contract and shall provide written notice of intent to opt out
of the term of the contract to the City no later than March 30, 2011.
5.0 HOURS OF WORK AND SHIFT SCHEDULES
5.4 Investigations Schedule
All Sergeants assigned to the Investigations Division are scheduled to
work an 80 hour work period within a two week pay period. The
Investigations unit shall work a 4/10 schedule. Lunch breaks will be
