About the <strong>Algoma</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Board</strong><br />

The <strong>Algoma</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Board</strong> consists of 11 secondary schools. Enrolment is approximately 5,000 students. The<br />

<strong>Algoma</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Board</strong> serves a geographic area of 70,534 square kilometers and encompasses communies along<br />

the north shore of Lake Huron, from Serpent River to Sault Ste. Marie, including Spanish, Elliot Lake, Blind River, Iron<br />

Bridge and the communies of Central <strong>Algoma</strong> with Bruce Mines, Desbarats, St. Joseph Island, Laird and Echo Bay, and<br />

along the east coast of Lake Superior, from Sault Ste. Marie to Hornepayne, which includes Wawa, Chapleau and White<br />

River.<br />

The <strong>Algoma</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Board</strong> strives to provide posive learning opportunies of the highest standard for all learners<br />

to realize their full potenal.<br />

ADSB schools provide a welcoming environment with a focus on the well being of each student. Each student is<br />

encouraged to reach his/her potenal through quality programs delivered by highly trained, caring staff, in an<br />

atmosphere of respect for all.<br />

ADSB believes that communicaon and working in partnership with the home and community are the keys to success.<br />

Transportation<br />

If a course is not offered at a parcular school, there MAY be a possibility that the <strong>Board</strong> will provide transportaon to<br />

take the course at another school. Please consult your Guidance Department.<br />

Safe <strong>School</strong>s Policy<br />

The ADSB endeavours to provide an atmosphere where all students can learn in a posive environment free from<br />

harassment, bullying, or discriminaon based on race, gender, or religion. The school Principal can be contacted for<br />

informaon on the Safe <strong>School</strong>s Policy.<br />
