Course Coding System<br />
The course code consists of a course tle and a sixth character code: The first five characters are designated by the<br />
Ministry of Educaon and Training. The <strong>Algoma</strong> <strong>District</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Board</strong> determines the sixth character.<br />

Evaluation of Student Achievement<br />
Students will be evaluated in a variety of ways, in order to give an accurate picture of what they have learned, and how they<br />
have progressed. 70% of a final grade is representave of term work, while 30% comes from final summave assessments<br />
conducted near the end of a course. Assessment and evaluaon will be based on the achievement of the provincial<br />
curriculum expectaons and on the achievement chart categories and levels.<br />
An evaluaon outline for each course in which the student is enrolled is provided at the beginning of the course and copies<br />
of these are available to parents/guardians upon request.<br />
Parents will be informed of their child’s progress through a regular schedule of report cards. For Grades 9 to 12, a Provincial<br />
Report Card will be issued to provide informaon regarding academic progress and learning skills. Parents are encouraged<br />
to call their school for informaon or advice on the progress of their child at any me during the school year.<br />
Parent/Teacher Interviews<br />
Parent/teacher interviews are typically held aer early idenficaon reports and/or aer midterm reports which are issued<br />
each semester. Addional interview mes can be arranged by contacng the school.<br />
