Communicaons Technology, Grade 12, University/College Preparaon (TGJ4M)<br />

This course examines communicaons systems and design and producon processes in the areas of electronic, live, recorded, and<br />

graphic communicaons. Students will create, manage, and distribute complex electronic, graphic, recorded, or audio-visual projects<br />

independently and in project teams. Students will also study industry standards and regulaons and health and safety issues, and will<br />

explore careers, the importance of lifelong learning, and the impact of communicaons technology on society and the environment.<br />

Prerequisite: Communicaons Technology, Grade 11, University/College Preparaon Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD and<br />

White Pines only<br />

Construcon Technology, Grade 12, College Preparaon (TCJ4C)<br />

This course focuses on advanced residenal construcon, more complex construcon systems, and the introducon of heavy<br />

construcon related to commercial, industrial, and/or recreaonal construcon. Students will learn about the tools, materials,<br />

equipment, and methods used in the light and heavy construcon industries; structural analysis and design; presentaon and<br />

working drawings; and auxiliary systems. They will also esmate materials and labour costs; study industry standards and building<br />

codes; consider health and safety issues; and explore energy conservaon, careers, and the impact of construcon technology on<br />

society and the environment. Prerequisite: Construcon Technology, Grade 11, College Preparaon Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake,<br />

Hornepayne, Korah, Michipicoten, SJD, WC Eaket, and White Pines only. At WC Eaket this course is offered as a 1 or 2 credit package.<br />

At CASS this is also offered as a 2 credit package.<br />

Construcon Technology, Grade 12, Workplace Preparaon (TCJ4E)<br />

This course focuses on advanced residenal and more complex construcon systems, as well as the introducon of heavy<br />

construcon, related to commercial, industrial, and/or residenal construcon; advanced praccal workplace applicaons; and the<br />

development of generic employment skills and independent learning skills. Students will examine the materials, processes, labour,<br />

tools, and equipment used in the construcon industry; technical drawings; auxiliary systems; and landscaping. They will also study<br />

industry standards and building codes; consider health and safety issues; and explore careers, lifelong learning opportunies, and the<br />

impact of construcon technology on society and the environment.<br />

Hospitality and Tourism, Grade 12, Workplace Preparaon (TFH4E)<br />

This course focuses on advanced food preparaon and presentaon skills; event and acvity planning; the equipment and facilies<br />

used in the hospitality and tourism industry; and tourist aracons. Students will study the nutrional value of foods, plan menus<br />

and recipes, develop management techniques, design and implement an event, and learn effecve communicaon skills. They will<br />

also explore careers, the impact of the hospitality and tourism industry on society and the environment, and health and safety<br />

standards in the workplace. Prerequisite: Hospitality and Tourism, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon Alexander Henry only<br />

Manufacturing Technology, Grade 12, Workplace Preparaon (TMJ4E)<br />

This course focuses on draing and design, machining, welding, computer numerical control (CNC), computer-assisted machining<br />

(CAM), motor control, hydraulic control, pneumac control, and computer control. Students will use sophiscated design<br />

and manufacturing systems to design and fabricate tooling, to program CNC equipment, and to design and build soluons to<br />

technological challenges in manufacturing. Prerequisite: Manufacturing Technology, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon Alexander<br />

Henry, CASS, Korah, WC Eaket, and White Pines only<br />

Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Grade 12, College Preparaon (TMJ4C)<br />

This course focuses on advanced manufacturing and engineering, and provides students with an opportunity to develop specialized<br />

knowledge and skills used in sophiscated producon processes. Students will solve problems; make the decisions necessary to<br />

develop a product for manufacture; and examine producon methods, quality control systems, and environmental and societal<br />

impacts.<br />

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Grade 11, College Preparaon Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD and<br />

White Pines only<br />

Transportaon Technology, Grade 12, College Preparaon (TTJ4C)<br />

This course examines alternave modes of mass transit to enable students to develop the specialized knowledge and skills required<br />

to work with sophiscated land, air, and/or marine vehicles and transportaon systems. Students will solve problems related to<br />

vehicles and transportaon systems; examine transportaon-related issues such as energy conversion, power transfer, control<br />

systems, and environmental and societal impact; and invesgate the educaonal requirements of career opportunies in the<br />

transportaon sector. Prerequisite: Transportaon Technology, Grade 11, College Preparaon Bawang, CASS , Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD,<br />
