World Religions: Beliefs and Daily Life, Grade 11, Open (HRF3O)<br />

This course introduces students to the range and diversity of world religions, and examines how systems of belief affect individual<br />

lives and social relaonships. Students will learn about a variety of religious beliefs, teachings, tradions, and pracces. The course<br />

also helps students to develop skills used in researching and invesgang topics related to world religions. Prerequisite: None<br />

Technological Design, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (TDJ3M)<br />

This course provides students with opportunies to apply the principles of technological design to challenges in communicaons,<br />

manufacturing, electronics, transportaon, architecture, industrial and consumer products, health and safety equipment, and<br />

environmental services. Students will idenfy user needs, esmate labour and material costs, analyse material characteriscs, and<br />

illustrate design soluons, using tradional and computer-based methods. They will also acquire the basic design skills required for<br />

postsecondary studies in engineering, manufacturing, architecture, and construcon. Prerequisite: None (Recommended: TDJ20)<br />

Communicaons Technology, Grade 11 Workplace Preparaon (TGJ3E)<br />

This course examines communicaons systems and design and producon processes in the areas of electronic, live, recorded, and<br />

graphic communicaons. Students will be given the opportunity to develop and apply praccal skills to assemble, repair, operate,<br />

maintain, and test various systems. Students will also study industry standards and regulaons and health and safety issues, and will<br />

explore careers, the importance of lifelong learning, and the impact of communicaons technology on society and the environment.<br />

Communicaons Technology, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (TGJ3M)<br />

graphic communicaons. Students will develop knowledge and skills relang to the assembly, operaon, maintenance, and repair<br />

of the basic and more complex components of a range of communicaons systems. Students will also study industry standards<br />

and regulaons and health and safety issues, and will explore careers, the importance of lifelong learning, and the impact of<br />

communicaons technology on society and the environment. Prerequisite: None Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD, White<br />

Construcon Technology, Grade 11 Workplace Preparaon (TCJ3E)<br />

This course focuses on residenal and light construcon systems related to commercial, industrial, and/or recreaonal construcon;<br />

the development of generic employment skills; and preparaon for apprenceship and training programs. Students will learn about<br />

and gain praccal experience with various types of materials, processes, labour, tools, and equipment used in the construcon<br />

industry; technical drawings; and auxiliary systems. They will also study industry standards and building codes; consider health and<br />

safety issues; and explore careers, the importance of lifelong learning, and the impact of construcon technology on society and the<br />

environment. Prerequisite: None Alexander Henry, CASS, Elliot Lake, Hornepayne, Korah, Michipicoten, and SJD only. At SJD, this<br />

course focuses on Technical Survival Skills including basic carpentry techniques, tool selecon and use, materials, electrical wiring,<br />

basic automove repair, plumbing, drywall, painng and wallpapering. Individual and small group projects are the vehicle used to<br />

develop praccal skills.<br />

Construcon Technology, Grade 11 College Preparaon (TCJ3C)<br />

This course focuses on residenal and light construcon systems related to commercial, industrial, and/or recreaonal construcon.<br />

Students will learn about the tools, materials, equipment, and methods used in the light construcon industry; structural analysis<br />

and design; presentaon and working drawings; and auxiliary systems. They will also esmate materials and labour costs; study<br />

industry standards and building codes; consider health and safety issues and energy conservaon; and explore careers and the<br />

impact of construcon technology on society and the environment. Prerequisite: None (Recommended: TCJ20) All schools except<br />

Alexander Henry and Chapleau<br />

Korah offers a secon of this course for females only. At WC Eaket the course is offered as a 1 or 2 credit package.<br />

This course provides students with opportunies to apply the principles of basic design to technological challenges in industry,<br />

engineering, architecture, manufacturing, and graphics. Students will develop problem-solving and design skills through the use of<br />

technical drawings and illustraons, model building, tesng, and markeng. They will also become aware of consumer, business,<br />

and environmental issues in the creaon and markeng of products or services, and the educaonal requirements of design-related<br />
