Dramac Arts, Grade 12, University/College Preparaon (ADA4M)<br />

This course requires students to experiment with forms and convenons in dramac literature, and to create/adapt and present<br />

dramac works. Students will do research on dramac forms, convenons, themes, and theories of acng and direcng from<br />

different historical periods, and apply their knowledge of these in analysing and interpreng dramac literature, including Canadian<br />

works and works from various cultures in the late tweneth century. Students will also examine the significance of dramac arts in<br />

various cultures. Prerequisite: Dramac Arts, Grade 11, University/College Preparaon or Open Bawang, WC Eaket and White Pines<br />

Dramac Arts, Grade 12, Open (ADA4O)<br />

This course requires students to create and present a variety of dramac works. Students will present works by Canadian and other<br />

playwrights, and develop original material based on personal narraves, local community issues, or global concerns. They will have<br />

hands-on experiences with various aspects of dramac arts producons, including performance, set design, lighng, costumes, stage<br />

and technical management, and markeng. Students will also explore possible careers related to the dramac arts. Prerequisite:<br />

Dramac Arts, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon or Open Elliot Lake, Michipicoten, SJD, and WC Eaket only<br />

Exploring the Arts, Grade 12, Open (AEA4O)<br />

This course emphasizes the acquision and applicaon of knowledge and skills related to the creaon, interpretaon, and producon<br />

of works involving dance, drama, media arts, music, and/or visual arts. Students will study, evaluate, create, and promote art works<br />

and producons, and will use a variety of established and experimental techniques and various technologies in individual or group<br />

projects (e.g., the presentaon of a theatrical scene or an art exhibit on a website.) Prerequisite: Any Grade 9 or 10 course in the arts.<br />

Electronic Music, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMD4M)<br />

This course provides an opportunity for the young musician to advance their recording techniques to a new level. Topics to be<br />

explored include: advanced microphone technique in the selecon of microphone types and their placement with amplifiers,<br />

vocalists and drums; tone colours and arranging within a piece of recorded music and the role of the various frequency ranges in<br />

recording. Ulizing a state-of-the-art recording facility students then apply these techniques in a series of projects. Recommended<br />

pre-requisite: AMD3M. Prerequisite: Electronic Music, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMD3M) Korah only<br />

Guitar, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMG4M)<br />

This course is designed for students to connue, improve, and expand their knowledge of the guitar, technical paerns, and<br />

an understanding of chord vocabulary. The students of this course will be allowed to explore areas designed for their personal<br />

understanding. Prerequisite: Guitar, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon Bawang, SJD, Korah and White Pines only<br />

Keyboard Music, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMK4M)<br />

This course in keyboard music will provide students in both the University and College desnaons with the opportunity to learn<br />

to play increasingly complex melodies, scales, rhythmic paerns and chords in a variety of styles. Students will also have the<br />

opportunity to build on their knowledge of composing and arranging using the keyboard and computer. Students will further develop<br />

their skills in reading and performing music, and connue their study of music theory, history, and analysis. Prerequisite: Piano<br />

Keyboard, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon White Pines only<br />

Music and Computers, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMM4M)<br />

This course provides an opportunity for the sound engineer to advance their music producon techniques to a new level. Topics to<br />

be explored include: advanced use of compression, reverberaon, parametric equalizaon and other effects, bussing and roung<br />

of signals, advanced eding techniques and automated mixing tools. Ulizing a state-of-the-art recording facility students then<br />

apply these techniques in a series of projects. Recommended pre-requisite: AMM3M. Prerequisite: Music and Computers, Grade 11<br />

University/College Preparaon Korah only<br />

Instrumental Music – Band, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMI4M)<br />

This course emphasizes individual performance as well as in ensemble playing. Musical styles such as jazz, classical and<br />

contemporary, will be explored in greater detail. Students will connue to further their knowledge of musical concepts and increase<br />

their music reading skills. Listening skills will be further developed and the composional component will include using electronic<br />

instruments to write musical accompaniment. Prerequisite: AMI3M or permission of instructor. Korah only<br />
