Repertoire, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMR4M)<br />

This course in Music Repertoire will provide students with the opportunity to learn an increasingly complex and extensive repertoire<br />

for their instrument or voice. They will connue to develop their sight reading, presentaon, and performance skills as well as<br />

various styles through listening and analysing selected works. Prerequisite: AMR3M Bawang, White Pines, SJD, and Korah only<br />

Musical Theatre – University/College Preparaon (AMT 4M)<br />

If you would like to express yourself on the stage or as part of a musical producon (pit musician, lights, sound, stage, technical),<br />

then this is the course for you. Students interested in acng should be prepared to take on a role that involves both singing and<br />

speaking. Typical pit band instruments include keyboard, percussion, bass, guitar, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, and flute.<br />

Other dues will include stage manager and sound and light manager. While staging a producon you will learn all the elements<br />

of mounng a successful producon including set design/construcon, rehearsal techniques, promoon/markeng, and of course,<br />

Music, Grade 12, University/College Preparaon (AMU4M)<br />

This course emphasizes the appreciaon, analysis, and performance of music from the romanc period and the tweneth century,<br />

including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpreve<br />

skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creave projects. Prerequisite: Music, Grade 11,<br />

University/College Preparaon or Open Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Michipicoten, SJD, WC Eaket, and White Pines only<br />

Media Arts, Grade 12, Open (ASM4O)<br />

This course emphasizes the development of the knowledge and skills required for the producon of interacve media art forms<br />

(e.g., interacve art installaons, interacve videos, simulaons, network art). Students will analyse and evaluate media art works,<br />

and will create their own works using a variety of technologies and processes (e.g., computer graphics, photo-imaging, digital video<br />

producon techniques, electro-acouscs). Students will maintain a porolio of their media art works. Prerequisite: Any Grade 11<br />

course in the arts Alexander Henry only<br />

Dance, Grade 12, University/College Preparaon (ATC4M)<br />

This course emphasizes the development of technical proficiency and the creaon and presentaon of complex composions.<br />

Students will acquire increasingly difficult technical skills; assume leadership as dancers, choreographers, and producon personnel;<br />

analyse and evaluate dance performances; and study historical and cultural aspects of dance, especially of dance in Canada.<br />

Prerequisite: Dance, Grade 11, University/College Preparaon or Open White Pines only<br />

Vocal Music, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AMV4M)<br />

This course allows student to share their experse as a secon leader in large group singing while having more opportunies for<br />

small group and solo singing. As in previous vocal classes, you will connue to develop your vocal technique, applying your singing<br />

skills to more advanced music. Prerequisite: AMV3M. Korah and White Pines only<br />

Visual Arts, Grade 12 University/College Preparaon (AVI4M)<br />

This course focuses on the refinement of students’ skills and knowledge in visual arts. Students will analyse art forms; use theories<br />

of art in analysing and producing art; and increase their understanding of stylisc changes in modern and contemporary Western<br />

art, Canadian (including Nave Canadian) art, and art forms from various parts of the world. Students will produce a body of work<br />

demonstrang a personal approach by choosing a theme, primary medium and subject maer. There will be a strong emphasis on<br />

drawing. Prerequisite: AVI3M Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, Michipicoten, SJD, WC Eaket, and White Pines only<br />

Accounng for a Small Business, Grade 12, Workplace Preparaon (BAN4E)<br />

This course further develops students’ understanding of the fundamentals of accounng by having them examine each component of<br />

the accounng cycle, with an emphasis on a merchandising business. Students will use computer applicaons soware to learn how<br />

accounng is pracsed in the workplace. Students will acquire an understanding of payroll systems, inventory, specialized journals,<br />

subsidiary ledgers, income tax reporng, and budgeng. Prerequisite: Accounng Essenals, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon ELSS<br />

and WC Eaket only<br />
