Visual Arts, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AVI3M)<br />

This course provides students with opportunies to further develop their skills and knowledge in visual arts. Students will explore<br />

a range of subject maer through studio acvies and will consolidate their praccal skills. Students will also analyse art works and<br />

study aspects of Western art history from Mannerism to the Neoclassic period, as well as art forms from Canada and other parts<br />

of the world. Studio acvies will include figure drawing, water colour painng, print making, sculpture, design, mixed media and<br />

computer-based projects. Prerequisite: Visual Arts, Grade 9 and/or 10 Open Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD, WC Eaket, and<br />

Financial Accounng Fundamentals, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (BAF3M)<br />

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and procedures of accounng. Students will develop financial analysis<br />

and decision-making skills that will assist them in future studies and/or career opportunies in business. Students will acquire an<br />

understanding of accounng for a service and a merchandising business, computerized accounng, financial analysis, and current<br />

This course introduces students to the accounng cycle of a service business. Students will use computer applicaons soware to<br />

record business transacons and to prepare financial statements. Students will also invesgate banking and cash management,<br />

decision making, ethical behaviour, and career opportunies in the field of accounng. WC Eaket and ELSS only<br />

Entrepreneurship: The Venture, Grade 11 College Preparaon (BDI3C)<br />

This course focuses on ways in which entrepreneurs recognize opportunies, generate ideas, and organize resources to plan<br />

successful ventures that enable them to achieve their goals. Students will create a venture plan for a student-run school-based or<br />

summer business. Through hands-on experiences, students will have opportunies to develop the values, traits, and skills most oen<br />

associated with successful entrepreneurs. Prerequisite: None Bawang, CASS, Korah, White Pines and WC Eaket only<br />

Informaon and Communicaon Technology: The Digital Environment, Grade 11 Open (BTA3O)<br />

This course prepares students for the digital environment. Using a hands-on approach, students will further develop informaon<br />

and communicaon technology skills through the use of common business soware applicaons. The concept and operaon of e-<br />

business will be explored, and students will design and create an e-business website. The skills developed in this course will prepare<br />

Markeng: Retail and Service, Grade 11 Workplace Preparaon (BMX3E)<br />

This course focuses on markeng acvies in the retail and service sectors. Students will examine trends and global influences<br />

on markeng decisions, and will learn about the importance of customer service in developing a customer base and maintaining<br />

customer loyalty. Through hands-on learning, students will develop personal selling and informaon technology skills that will<br />

prepare them for a variety of markeng-related posions in the workplace. Prerequisite: None CASS, Elliot Lake, White Pines and WC<br />

Markeng: Goods, Services, Events, Grade 11 College Preparaon (BMI3C)<br />

This course introduces the fundamental concepts of product markeng, which includes the markeng of goods, services, and events.<br />

Students will examine how trends, issues, global economic changes, and informaon technology influence consumer buying habits.<br />

Students will engage in markeng research, develop markeng strategies, and produce a markeng plan for a product of their choice.<br />
