Ojibwe, Grade 9 Open (LNOAO)<br />
The purpose of this course is to develop basic Ojibwe language skills and to highlight certain tradions and customs of the Ojibwe<br />
people. Previous knowledge of the language is not required. Students will use the language being studied for greengs and daily<br />
rounes, become familiar with its wring and sound system, and pracce basic vocabulary and phrases. ELSS and WC Eaket only<br />

This course examines Aboriginal cultures in Canada through an exploraon of art forms painng, sculpture, storytelling, dance and<br />
music- created by Aboriginal arsts. Students will learn to idenfy Aboriginal art forms and describe relaonships between the art<br />
forms and Aboriginal tradions, philosophy, and culture. Students will also create their own art forms to express their understanding<br />

This course uses the Beatudes as a framework to examine the atudes and acons that characterize the Chrisan life. Students<br />
will derive knowledge and skills from a study of Scripture, Profession of Faith, Chrisan Moral Development, Prayer, Sacramental Life<br />
and Family Life. Students are encouraged to grow in Gospel values while acvely engaging in a variety of challenging educaonal<br />

This course explores the challenges faced by all people: how to meet basic needs, how to relate to others, how to manage resources,<br />
and how to become responsible members of society. Students will acquire knowledge and skills that are needed to make the<br />
transion to adulthood. Teachers will instruct students in developing interpersonal, decision-making, and praccal skills related to<br />
daily life. Students will explore the funconing of families and the diversies found among families and within society. Alexander<br />

Science, Grade 9 Locally Developed Compulsory Course (SNC1L)<br />
This course emphasizes reinforcing and strengthening science-related knowledge and skills, including scienfic inquiry, crical<br />
thinking, and the relaonship between science, society, and the environment, to prepare students for success in everyday life, in the<br />
workplace, and in the Science Grade 11 Workplace Preparaon course. Students explore a range of topics, including science in daily<br />
life, properes of common materials, life-sustaining processes in simple and complex organisms, and electrical circuits. Students have<br />
the opportunity to extend mathemacal and scienfic process skills and to connue developing their skills in reading, wring, and<br />

Science, Grade 9 Applied (SNC1P)<br />
This course enables students to understand basic concepts in biology, chemistry, earth and space science, and physics; to develop<br />
praccal skills in scienfic invesgaon; and to apply their knowledge of science to everyday situaons. Students will design and<br />
conduct invesgaons into praccal problems and issues related to cell division and reproducon, the structure and properes of<br />
