Piano Keyboard, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMK3M)
This course is for students that have completed at least one previous music course. This course will provide students in both the
University and College desnaons with the opportunity to learn to play increasingly complex melodies, scales, rhythmic paerns
and chords in a variety of styles. Students will also have the opportunity to learn the basics of sequencer recording while composing
their own music using the keyboard. Students will develop their skills in reading and performing music, and will connue their study
of music theory, history and analysis. Prerequisite: Music, Grade 9 or 10 or special permission from instructor. White Pines only
Music and Computers, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMM3M)
This course is designed for students interested in learning the art of mixing sound recordings using a wide range of digital computer
tools such as compression, reverberaon and parametric equalizaon to enhance the performances of their peers and create a top
quality recording. Students ulize a state-of-the-art recording facility to apply the techniques of sound engineering in a series of

Repertoire, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMR3M)
This course in Music Repertoire will provide students with the opportunity to learn an increasingly complex and extensive repertoire
for their instrument or voice. They will connue to develop their sight reading, presentaon, and performance skills as well as
various styles through listening and analysing selected works. Prerequisite: AMI20 Bawang, Korah, SJD and White Pines only
Music Theatre, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMT3M)
This course develops students’ arsc knowledge and skills through the performance of music and the preparaon of music
producons. Students will perform appropriate works, parcularly works in contemporary popular styles. Independently and in
groups, they will also plan, market, and produce music producons, making use of appropriate technology, and will evaluate the

This course emphasizes the appreciaon, analysis, and performance of various kinds of music, including baroque and classical
music, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire,
complete detailed creave acvies, and analyse and evaluate live and recorded performances. They will connue to increase their
understanding of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginave abilies. Prerequisite: Music, Grade 9 or 10,
Open Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Hornepayne, SJD, WC Eaket and White Pines only
Vocal Music, Grade 11 Open (AMV3O)
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Students
learning will include parcipang in creave acvies and listening percepvely. Students will also be required to develop a thorough
understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. Prerequisite: None. White Pines only
Vocal Music, Grade 11 University/College Preparaon (AMV3M)
This course connues to develop and increase vocal sound quality, listening sensivity, more advanced music reading and new styles.
Prerequisite: AMV2M. Korah only
Media Arts, Grade 11, Open (ASM3O)
This course emphasizes the development of the knowledge and skills required for the producon of media art works (e.g.,
robosculpture, photocopy art, computer animaon with synthesized sound). Students will develop an appreciaon of the history
of media arts through analysing specific works, and will create media art works using a variety of technologies (e.g., digital camera,
photo-imaging soware, computer-modelling soware, synthesizer, videotape, mul-track sound recording). Prerequisite: Any Grade
9 or 10 course in the arts Alexander Henry only
Visual Arts, Grade 11, Open (AVI3O)
This course focuses on studio acvies in one or more of the visual arts. Students will create art works that explore a wide range of
subject maer, and will evaluate art works, providing grounds for their aesthec judgements. They will also examine historical and
cultural contexts of Western art (including Canadian art) and art from various world cultures to support their study of specific media.
