Dance, Grade 10, Open (ATC2O)<br />
This course requires students to develop their dance skills and learn the theorecal basis for working with anatomical structure<br />
in execung dance movements. Student learning will include the processes that form the basis for creang dance; the historical<br />
development of dance; students’ own aesthec appreciaon of dance as they parcipate in dance class, rehearsals, and<br />
performances; and the specialized vocabulary of dance cricism. Bawang, CASS and White Pines only.<br />
Dramac Arts, Grade 10 Open (ADA2O)<br />
This course requires students to acvely explore dramac forms and techniques, using their own ideas and concerns as well<br />
as sources selected from a wide range of authors, genres, and cultures. Student learning will include idenfying and using the<br />
principles of space, me, voice, and movement in creang, sustaining, and communicang authenc roles within a drama. Students<br />
will assume responsibility for decisions made in the creaon and presentaon of the drama, and will analyse and reflect on the<br />
experience. Prerequisite: None<br />

Music, Grade 10 Open (AMU2O)<br />
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student<br />
learning will include parcipang in creave acvies and listening percepvely. Students will also be required to develop a thorough<br />
understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. Prerequisite: None Bawang, CASS, Elliot<br />
Lake, Michipicoten, SJD, WC Eaket, Hornepayne, and White Pines only<br />
Guitar, Grade 10 Open (AMG2O)<br />
Students will learn a variety of guitar techniques while performing folk and popular songs on the 6-string acousc guitar. Learning<br />
how to read music and chord symbols is an important component of this course. Students will learn about the historical development<br />
of the guitar by listening to classical, folk, blues, jazz, and rock selecons. Prerequisite: None (Recommended: AMU10) SJD, Korah,<br />
and White Pines only<br />
Piano Keyboard, Grade 10 Open (AMK2O)<br />
This course is for students that have not played the piano before or have some experience. Students work at their own pace while<br />
learning to read a variety of styles and learning the basics of synthesizer (sequencer) recording. Advanced students will learn<br />
recording techniques using computers, synthesizers and MIDI equipment. Prerequisite: None Bawang only<br />
Vocal Music, Grade 10 Open (AMV2O)<br />
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student<br />
learning will include parcipang in creave acvies and listening percepvely. Students will also be required to develop a thorough<br />
understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. Aspiring rock stars, opera singers, folk<br />
singers and anyone who enjoys singing will benefit from this course which performs primarily in a choir format. Prerequisite: None<br />
Korah only<br />
Visual Arts, Grade 10 Open (AVI2O)<br />
This course emphasizes learning through pracce; building on what students know; and introducing them to new ideas, materials,<br />
and processes for arsc thinking and experimentaon. Student learning will include the refined applicaon of the elements and<br />
principles of design, incorporang the creave and design processes, and the relaonship between form and content. Students<br />
will also learn about the connecons between works of art and their historical contexts. Course objecves may be achieved either<br />
through a comprehensive program or through a program focused on a parcular art form (e.g., drawing, painng). Prerequisite:<br />
None - AVI1O recommended. All schools except Hornepayne<br />
