Advanced Learning Strategies: Skills for Success Aer Secondary <strong>School</strong>, Grade 12, Open (GLS4O/GLE4O/GLE3O)<br />
This course improves students’ learning and personal management skills, preparing them to make successful transions to work,<br />
training, and/or postsecondary educaon desnaons. Students will assess their learning abilies and use literacy, numeracy, and<br />
research skills and personal management techniques to maximize their learning. Students will invesgate trends and resources to<br />
support their postsecondary employment, training, and/or educaon choices and develop a plan to help them meet their learning<br />
and career goals. Prerequisite: For GLS4O – Career Studies, Grade 10, Open, For GLE4O and GLE3O – Recommendaon of Principal<br />
Navigang the Workplace, Grade 12, Open (GLN4O)<br />
This course provides students with opportunies to develop the workplace skills and work habits required for success in all types<br />
of workplaces. Students will explore occupaons and careers of interest through parcipaon in real workplace experiences. They<br />
will make plans for connued learning and work, work with others to design learning experiences, and invesgate the resources and<br />
support required to make a smooth transion to their postsecondary desnaon. Prerequisite: None Alexander Henry, Elliot Lake,<br />
Korah, SJD, and White Pines only. At CASS, this is one credit of the 4 credit cooperave educaon package.<br />

Healthy Acve Living Educaon, Grade 12, Open (PPL4O)<br />
This course focuses on the development of a personalized approach to healthy acve living through parcipaon in a variety of<br />
sports and recreaonal acvies that have the potenal to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will develop<br />
and implement personal physical fitness plans. In addion, they will be given opportunies to refine their decision-making, conflictresoluon,<br />
and interpersonal skills, with a view to enhancing their mental health and their relaonships with others. Prerequisite:<br />
None Alexander Henry, Bawang, CASS, Chapleau, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD, WC Eaket, and White Pines only<br />
Outdoor Acvies, Grade 12, Open (PAD40)<br />
This course focuses on the development of a personalized approach to healthy acve living through parcipaon in a variety of<br />
outdoor acvies that have the potenal to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will develop and implement<br />
personal physical fitness plans. In addion, they will be given opportunies to refine their decision-making, conflict-resoluon, and<br />
interpersonal skills, with a view to enhancing their mental health and their relaonships with others. Prerequisite: None Bawang (<br />
Semester 2) and SJD only. Also available as part of the ADSB Outdoor Educaon Program at SJD.<br />
Exercise Science, Grade 12, University Preparaon (PSE4U)<br />
This course focuses on the study of human movement and of systems, factors, and principles involved in human development.<br />
Students will learn about the effects of physical acvity on health and performance, the evoluon of physical acvity and sports,<br />
and the factors that influence an individual’s parcipaon in physical acvity. The course prepares students for university programs<br />
in physical educaon, kinesiology, recreaon, and sports administraon. Prerequisite: Any Grade 11 university or university/college<br />
preparaon course in science, or any Grade 11 or 12 open course in health and physical educaon Recommended: SBI3U Bawang,<br />

Recreaon and Fitness Leadership, Grade 12, College Preparaon (PLF4C)<br />
This course focuses on the development of leadership and coordinaon skills related to recreaonal acvies. Students will acquire<br />
the knowledge and skills required to plan, organize, and implement recreaonal events. They will also learn how to promote the<br />
value of physical fitness, personal well-being, and personal safety to others through mentoring. The course will prepare students for<br />
college programs in recreaonal, leisure, and fitness leadership. Prerequisite: Any Grade 11 or 12 open course in health and physical<br />
