Manufacturing Technology, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon (TMJ3E)<br />

This course helps familiarize students with the broad range of career opportunies within the manufacturing sector. Students will<br />

acquire design and fabricaon skills using a variety of materials, tools, equipment, and processes, and will construct products that<br />

adhere to design specificaons and meet quality control standards. In addion to developing employability and technical skills,<br />

students will develop an understanding of the impact of the manufacturing sector on consumers, society, and the environment.<br />

Prerequisite: None (Recommended: TMJ20) Alexander Henry, CASS, Korah, WC Eaket, and White Pines only. At WC Eaket the course<br />

is offered as a 2 credit package.<br />

Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Grade 11 College Preparaon (TMJ3C)<br />

This course focuses on design principles; electronic, pneumac, and hydraulic control systems; and tradional and advanced<br />

manufacturing processes. Students will solve problems and make the crical decisions necessary to develop efficient producon<br />

systems. They will also study the broad range of career opportunies available in the manufacturing sector and their educaonal<br />

requirements, and will research the scope of the manufacturing industry and the impact of its products on individuals, society, and<br />

the environment. Prerequisite: None (Recommended: TMJ20) Bawang, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, SJD and White Pines only<br />

Transportaon Technology, Grade 11 Workplace Preparaon (TTJ3E)<br />

This course examines the various types of land, air, and/or marine vehicles and vehicle systems found within the transportaon<br />

sector. Students will acquire idenficaon, troubleshoong, repairing, and tesng skills that meet industry standards and<br />

government regulaons. In addion to developing employability and technical skills, they will explore the broad range of career<br />

opportunies within this sector, and will examine the impact of the transportaon sector on people, society, and the environment.<br />

Prerequisite: None Alexander Henry, CASS, Elliot Lake, Korah, Michipicoten, SJD, and White Pines<br />

Transportaon Technology, Grade 11 College Preparaon (TTJ3C)<br />

This course examines the infrastructure required for the operaon of land, air, and/or marine vehicles. Students will design,<br />

construct, and modify vehicles, and apply safe work pracces and procedures using current technology. They will also develop<br />

effecve communicaon and teamwork skills when developing soluons to managing vehicle support systems; invesgate the<br />

educaonal requirements for career opportunies in the transportaon sector; and analyse the impact of transportaon technology<br />

on society and the environment. Prerequisite: None (Recommended: TTJ20) All schools except Alexander Henry and Chapleau. At<br />

WC Eaket the course is offered as a 2 credit package.<br />

Hospitality and Tourism, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon (TFH3E)<br />

This course focuses on food preparaon and management, and hospitality and tourism acvies, equipment, and facilies. Students<br />

will learn how to prepare, present, and serve food; plan, manage, and promote acvies; and use the necessary equipment.<br />

Throughout the course, they will learn the fundamentals of providing high-quality service and customer sasfacon. Students<br />

will also study the occupaonal health and safety standards and laws regulang the hospitality and tourism industry, explore the<br />

industry’s social and environmental impacts, and idenfy possible career paths. Prerequisite: None Alexander Henry, Chapleau, WC<br />

Eaket, and Michipicoten only<br />

Hospitality, Grade 11 College Preparaon (TFT3C)<br />

This course helps students understand the features, trends, and guidelines of the hospitality industry, as well as learn the basic<br />

requirements of serving customers. Students will acquire skills related to preparing and presenng food, evaluang facilies,<br />

controlling inventory, and markeng special events. They will also learn about economic and environmental impacts, health<br />

and safety standards, and career opportunies related to the hospitality industry. Prerequisite: None. PPL20F and PPL20M<br />

recommended. Michipicoten only<br />

Health Care, Grade 11, College Preparaon (TPA3C)<br />

This course focuses on human anatomy, physiology, and basic medical terminology. Students will learn about the relaonship<br />

between lifestyle and personal health, and convenonal and alternave methods of disease prevenon and treatment. They will also<br />

invesgate health care procedures and equipment in nursing, medicine, and denstry; examine health and safety issues in health<br />

care and the environmental and societal impacts of biotechnology; and explore various career opportunies in the health care field.<br />

Prerequisite: None Bawang only.<br />

Computer Engineering, Grade 11, Workplace Preparaon (ICE3E)<br />

This course helps students develop a praccal understanding of hardware and soware operaons, computer networks, and<br />

operang systems. Students will learn to use ulity and applicaon soware and to install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer<br />

systems and networks following proper maintenance and repair procedures. In addion to developing an understanding of the<br />

ethical use of computers, students will idenfy related career opportunies and the skill sets required for the workplace, including<br />

good customer service pracces. Prerequisite: None Michipicoten only<br />
