• A downward trend can be seen in smoking among women during pregnancy. In 2003<br />

11% of pregnant women smoked, compared to 21% in 1996 (Lanting et al., 2007).<br />

• The <strong>National</strong> Anti-Smoking Programme 2006-2010 has set the target to reduce the<br />

number of smokers in Dutch society from 28% in 2005 to 20% in 2010 (Parliamentary<br />

Report, 2006b).<br />
