assure their preservation.
These objects, which seem to represent bilocular capsules or
twincarpels, are common in the clays at Woodbridge, N. J., and
are also recorded in considerable abundance fr_ Gay Head,
Marthas Vineyard. Their botanical relations are unknown.

Descriptio_.--Fruits ovate or slightly obovate in outline,
apparently representing a rather thick-walled capsule, 1.2 cm_ to
2-cm,. in length by o.6 era,. to I era. in breadth, with a pointed apex
and a rounded base. Peduncle short and stout, curved.
These objects are uncommon at the Woodbridge locality and
their botanical relationship is problematical.

Descriptlon.--Fruits or seeds, 9 mm. to io mm. in length by
3 ram. to 4 ram. in diameter, elliptical in shape and with fine
longitudinal striations.
These forms are of somewhat infrequent occurrence af the
Woodbridge locality and of unknown botanical re!ationship. ' "
