<strong>The</strong>se objects, which seem to represent bilocular capsules or<br />

twincarpels, are common in <strong>the</strong> clays at Woodbridge, N. J., and<br />

are also recorded in considerable abundance fr_ Gay Head,<br />

Marthas Vineyard. <strong>The</strong>ir botanical relations are unknown.<br />

Descriptio_.--Fruits ovate or slightly obovate in outline,<br />

apparently representing a ra<strong>the</strong>r thick-walled capsule, 1.2 cm_ to<br />

2-cm,. in length by o.6 era,. to I era. in breadth, with a pointed apex<br />

and a rounded base. Peduncle short and stout, curved.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se objects are uncommon at <strong>the</strong> Woodbridge locality and<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir botanical relationship is problematical.<br />

Descriptlon.--Fruits or seeds, 9 mm. to io mm. in length by<br />

3 ram. to 4 ram. in diameter, elliptical in shape and with fine<br />

longitudinal striations.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se forms are <strong>of</strong> somewhat infrequent occurrence af <strong>the</strong><br />

Woodbridge locality and <strong>of</strong> unknown botanical re!ationship. ' "<br />
