<strong>The</strong> above is Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>New</strong>berry's characterization 04 this<br />

interesting plant, which he refers to <strong>the</strong> Hepatica:. It is,<br />

obviously, not related to <strong>the</strong> genus Hausmannia, Dunker, which<br />

has been definately proven to be a fern genus _ <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> family<br />

Dipteriaeea:, so that I have ventured to, propose a new generic<br />

name, selected in honor <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>. <strong>New</strong>berry. What its real nature<br />

is, I am at a less to say. It is probably a fern, but as its botanical<br />

affinity remains uncertain, t have placed it among: <strong>the</strong> <strong>Raritan</strong><br />

forms <strong>of</strong> unknown botanical affinities, since <strong>the</strong>re are no grounds<br />
