Of <strong>the</strong>se 56 species 27 do not occur in <strong>the</strong> more abundant material<br />
from <strong>the</strong> lower <strong>Raritan</strong> horizons, and many o[ <strong>the</strong>m are<br />
species which characterize more particularly <strong>the</strong> overlying Magothy<br />
formation or were described originally from <strong>the</strong> Cenomanian<br />
<strong>of</strong> Enrope, <strong>the</strong> Atane and Patoot beds <strong>of</strong> Greenland, or<br />
<strong>the</strong> Dakota Group <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West, all <strong>of</strong> which are younger in age.<br />
Twelve <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> genera are not even represented in <strong>the</strong> older<br />
<strong>Raritan</strong>, and, aside from <strong>the</strong>se, certain species like Andromeda<br />
novce-ccesarece Hail, Brach_,phyllum magrocarpum <strong>New</strong>b., Citrophyllum<br />
aIigera (Lesq.) Berry, Eucalyptus angu¢ta Velen., Sali:c<br />
]_exuosa _ewb., Sequoia heterophylla Velert. are <strong>the</strong> character-<br />
