They statedthat the Office <strong>of</strong> the Secretary <strong>of</strong> Defense will issue a memor<strong>and</strong>um clarifying theapplicability <strong>of</strong> DoDI 5000.64 <strong>and</strong> DoDI 5100.76 <strong>and</strong> will also reiterate the provisions <strong>of</strong>DoD 5200.8-R. 6Status <strong>of</strong> Implementation <strong>of</strong> Recommendation AA memor<strong>and</strong>um was published by Under Secretary <strong>of</strong> Defense for Intelligenceconcerning the applicability <strong>of</strong> DoDI 5100.76 <strong>and</strong> DoD 5200.8-R. However, USD(AT&L) has not provided us a memor<strong>and</strong>um concerning the applicability <strong>of</strong> DoDI5000.64. We need to review the final memor<strong>and</strong>um, when issued by USD (AT&L), todetermine whether it adequately implements the intent <strong>of</strong> the recommendation. Therecommendation remains open.Recommendation B.1We recommended that the Comm<strong>and</strong>er, USCENTCOM issue formal proceduresgoverning the accountability <strong>and</strong> control <strong>of</strong> arms <strong>and</strong> ammunition under U.S. controlfrom the point <strong>of</strong> entry into <strong>and</strong> transport through the USCENTCOM area <strong>of</strong>responsibility until formal h<strong>and</strong>over to ISF or as appropriate to other Coalition partnerswithin the USCENTCOM area <strong>of</strong> responsibility.Management Comments to Recommendation B.1USCENTCOM concurred, noting that the USCENTCOM Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Logistics</strong> wasdrafting formal guidance that was proposed for publication not later than July 2008.Status <strong>of</strong> Implementation <strong>of</strong> Recommendation B.1On July 3, 2008, USCENTCOM issued a memor<strong>and</strong>um to its subordinate comm<strong>and</strong>stitled “CENTCOM Weapons <strong>and</strong> Munitions Accountability Awareness.” Thememor<strong>and</strong>um cited existing guidance related to weapons <strong>and</strong> munitions control withinthe USCENTCOM area <strong>of</strong> responsibility.
