U.S. Joint Forces Comm<strong>and</strong>, asthe force provider, would ensure that the appropriate Service identified military/civilianpersonnel to meet the requisite skills, experience, <strong>and</strong> rank/rate necessary to meet therequirements.Status <strong>of</strong> Implementation <strong>of</strong> Recommendations N.3.a <strong>and</strong> N.3.bUSCENTCOM <strong>and</strong> the Joint Staff remain committed to approving <strong>and</strong> sourcingrequirements for logistics mentors <strong>and</strong> trainers in Iraq. Comm<strong>and</strong>ers in Iraq believeplanning <strong>and</strong> resourcing for that mission is on-track. These recommendations remainopen.SummaryWe commend DoD management <strong>and</strong> field comm<strong>and</strong>ers for taking important <strong>and</strong> criticalsteps in addressing issues surrounding control <strong>and</strong> accountability <strong>of</strong> arms <strong>and</strong>ammunition provided to the security forces <strong>of</strong> Iraq, FMS support, <strong>and</strong> developing ISFlogistics sustainment. While significant progress is being made, work still remains to bedone. We will continue to work with management to address the remaining 16 openrecommendations from our Report No. SPO-2008-001, “Assessment <strong>of</strong> theAccountability <strong>of</strong> Arms <strong>and</strong> Ammunition Provided to the <strong>Security</strong> Forces <strong>of</strong> Iraq,” July 3,2008 (a classified report).27
