Asked to transition from ADM’s law department to ADM’s commercial team and learn the<br />
foundation of ADM’s business through commodity trading with exposure to multiple<br />
commodities, geographies and risks.<br />
• Soybeans (August 2007 – November 2008): procured soybeans for ADM’s European<br />
soy crush operations (approximately $2 billion per annum), managed the corresponding<br />
commodity risk position (including dry bulk freight), and provided pricing direction to<br />
product traders.<br />
• Tropical oils (November 2008 – June 2009): procured palm oil, coconut oil, olein and<br />
stearine for ADM’s European tropical oil refineries (approximately $500 million per<br />
annum), and managed the corresponding commodity risk position for the refineries.<br />
• Cocoa (June 2009 – March 2010): procured cocoa beans for ADM’s European and<br />
African cocoa grinding facilities (approximately $1 billion per annum), managed the<br />
corresponding commodity risk position for the cocoa grind, and provided pricing<br />
direction for local procurement activities.<br />

Trusted legal advisor to several senior managers for key business segments, including<br />
agricultural services, oilseeds and corn. Principle practice areas included mergers and<br />
acquisitions and commercial contract drafting and review. Highlights included:<br />
• Primary legal counsel for multiple acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures with an<br />
aggregate value in excess of $400 million.<br />
• Enhanced series of grain marketing contracts intended to increase the company’s grain<br />
origination and for structuring biofuel marketing agreements intended to leverage the<br />
company’s existing position in ethanol marketing and vast logistical infrastructure.<br />
• Advised and negotiated numerous intellectual property licenses, joint development<br />
agreements and product sales agreements involving Universities, small start ups and large<br />
