This short analysis of the concept of ‘need’, as it relates to each of the illustrative moments, hasbeen very useful for extracting the points of professional learning - though there is a sense inwhich it is my person that learns first and only then translates the learning on into theprofessional domains. In most cases the needs have been positive ones, though there are timeswhen a more cynical, selfish or egotistical reason is the motivating factor.
