With the right hand sheplaces a wreath on the head of a mare standing before her.She wears a chiton, confined by bands crossing on thebreast, such as are comtuon on figures of charioteers.Furies, and others. Behind her is a large dog. Therelief is surmounted by a large pediment. This reliefappears to have been dedicated, by the owner of a successfulhorse. Crannon in 2 hessaly. Presented by Cvl. On the right isan omphalos, about which a snake is coiled. The centralfigure, who is bearded, wears the dress of Dionysos withshort tunic, high boots, and a himation closely confined.He has a torch in the left hand and holds out a phiale inthe right hand. On the left is a figure f Zevis, with aphiale held out in the right hand, and a sceptre in theleft hand. The relief is bounded by two pilasters surmountedby an entablature and pediment.Below is a group of six male figures reclining, who aresketched out in low relief. Before them are four figures :(a) on the left a comic figure seated, playing on doubleflutes, and beating time with a kroupezionor scabellum(6) a nude female figure dancing ;(c) a comic figure running,wearing a Phrygian cap, and having a pair of doubleflutes in each hand ;(d) on the right, a figure with anoinochoe in each hand drawing wine from a large vessel.
