A katsa from the London station was sent in to startsetting up the sting.About the same time, a team from Metsada was assigned to NaimKhader in Brussels to make sure he did not get serious peacenegotiations under way. He was to be taken out. How theyplanned the hit can only be speculated upon, but it was done in afashion that was the signature of the Mossad: simple, quick, andtotal; on the street in broad daylight; the more witnesses thebetter; all that's left as a calling card are some unmarked shellcasings and the body.The assassin would have used a pistol containing nine bullets,with only six for the hit. From the time the hit was dead to thetime the killer got in the car, anybody who tried to stop him wouldhave joined the man on the ground.It was set up so that Abu Nidal of the B.10 would be blamed forthe hit, not only by outsiders but by Arafat and the Israeli foreignoffice, as well. Sure enough, not long after Khader's assassination,stories naming Nidal as the world's most dangerous, and wanted,terrorist appeared in the media.In Hamburg, the five-man neviot team was headed by Mousa M., arelatively new Mossad man who had come from the Shaback andhad a history in Unit 504. They stayed in the exclusive AtlanticHotel Kempinksi, on Lake Alster in this, West Germany's secondlargestcity.The Mossad love Hamburg, first for the good working relationshipwith the local anti-terrorist police and intelligence, and then forthe infamous live sex shows and red-light districts where hookersdisplay their charms in the windows or even by walking naked onthe streets. Since it was not yet an actualoperation, the men were not doing APAM, their normal operationalsecurity. Mousa easily followed one of them to a hotel where theman met a high-class hooker. When his man went to thewashroom, Mousa photographed the hooker standing by herself atthe bar, then left. The next night, the man met the same hookerand again spent most of the night with her.The following morning, when he arrived for a meeting at Mousa'shotel room, the other members of the team were already there.Everyone was just sitting around smoking and looking concerned.He could feel the tension in the air."What's up?" he asked Mousa."We've got an emergency situation here," Mousa replied. "We've gotto scour the city. We got a notice from headquarters that a Sovietblack agent is masquerading as a hooker and has made contactwith a Mossad person. We need to get her and interrogate her, andget him and ship him back to Israel where they'll charge thebastard with treason."The man was still tired and hung over, but he had no reason toworry. At least not until Mousa gave them all an 8-by10-inchphotograph of the "Soviet agent," at which point his complexionturned positively waxen."Can I speak to you a moment, Mousa?" he mumbled. "Sure, whatis it?""Ah, privately.""Yeah, sure.""Are you certain this is the agent?""Yeah, why?""When was she seen with the guy?""This week, as far as I know," said Mousa.
