<strong>Economic</strong> <strong>Assessment</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sanitation</strong> <strong>Interventions</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Vietnam</strong> | Local Benefits <strong>of</strong> Improved <strong>Sanitation</strong> and HygieneFlooded land, garbage dumpsites and land affected by wastewaterare all issues that are relevant to both the Rural andUrban Northern field sites (see Figure 32). Open defecationand garbage dumpsites, and especially flooded land, arecommon – even pervasive – <strong>in</strong> the Central <strong>Vietnam</strong>ese fieldsites. In the South, it seems that these issues do exist, butthey are not as urgent as <strong>in</strong> the Central and the North.
