Fray Francisco Morenode Montalvanejo published in Diario de Manila (16 April 1866) an article inwhich we can detect a denuntiation of the abuses by the politico-militarycommander of Morong. Governor Juan de Lara of the Philippines summonedFray Francisco to come immediately to the Franciscan convent in Manila andawait his orders (21 April). On the 28th, the Governor peremptorily orderedthe Provincial that the parish priests of Morong (Fr. Montalvanejo), Baras(Fr. Casimiro Martin) and Tanay (Fray Francisco Rosas) "procure and obtaina canonical change of their parishes with others in a province or district of thisarchbishopric other than Morong, where they have merited heavy censure fortheir conduct!'
