Leaves ternate, on long stalks, alternate leaflets ; ovate,acuminate, entire, smooth above, downy below, as is the common petiole.Flowers small, in racemes, about 6 inches long. Fruit the sizeand form of an apple, with an acid alliaceous flavour, and a tenderwhitish flesh. Root aromatic, stomachic and antispasmodic. It isemployed in Java against leucorrhaea, combined with the bark of theroot of Xylocarpus obovatus, which is extremely bitter. Illume.153
