COSMIBUENA.A tree. Leaves oval, obtuse, covered on the under side, as are alsothe flowers, with yellowish hairs. Corolla 5-6-cleft, purple. Stamens5-6. An indifferent sort of fever bark is produced by this plant ;M. Guibourt thinks itmay be what has been known in commerce asQuinquina colorada. He received the latter under the name of BrazilianQuinquina. It contains a very little cinchonine, is thin, blood-colouredwithin, very bitter.REMIJA.Tube of calyx obovate, with a 5-cleft permanent limb. Tubeof corolla slender ;limb 5-parted, with linear segments. Filamentsunequal, inserted into the tube of the corolla ; antherslinear, enclosed. A fleshy, elevated, truncated disk, distinctfrom the style. Stigmas 2, linear, enclosed. Capsule openingfrom the apex to the base, with a loculicidal dehiscence. Seedsnumerous, peltate, winged. Slender Brazilian bushes. Leavesoblong, or ovate, coriaceous, deeply furrowed above, opposite orternate, revolute at the edges, covered with ferruginous hairs underneath.Stipules lanceolate connate at the base, deciduous.Racemes long, axillary, interrupted; flowers in opposite fascicles.Corollas downy externally.854.
