About the Contributors<br />

María D. R-Moreno earned a PhD (2004) <strong>in</strong> Computer Sciences by the Universidad de Alcalá<br />

(Spa<strong>in</strong>) with the dist<strong>in</strong>ction of the European Doctorate. Dur<strong>in</strong>g her PhD she performed several visits<br />

to different <strong>in</strong>ternational centers such as British Telecom Adastral Park <strong>in</strong> UK <strong>and</strong> the CNR <strong>in</strong> Rome.<br />

In 2006, she was at NASA Ames Research Center as a Postdoc, work<strong>in</strong>g at the Autonomous Systems<br />

<strong>and</strong> Robotics group. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the summer of 2007, she was a Visit<strong>in</strong>g Researcher at ESA <strong>in</strong> the ExoMars<br />

mission. Her research <strong>in</strong>terests are <strong>in</strong> the area of plann<strong>in</strong>g, schedul<strong>in</strong>g, monitor<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>and</strong> execution applied<br />

to real doma<strong>in</strong>s as satellites, workflow, <strong>and</strong> e-learn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

María José Rodríguez-Conde earned her PhD <strong>in</strong> Education (University of Salamanca, Spa<strong>in</strong>, 1994).<br />

She has been an associate professor of Research Methods <strong>in</strong> Education at the Faculty of Education of<br />

the University of Salamanca s<strong>in</strong>ce 1999, an expert <strong>in</strong> evaluation methodology <strong>and</strong> statistical analysis of<br />

data <strong>in</strong> social sciences. She leads the Research Group <strong>in</strong> Educational Evaluation <strong>and</strong> Guidance (GE2O),<br />

is a collaborator <strong>in</strong> the Group of Research <strong>in</strong> Interaction <strong>and</strong> E-learn<strong>in</strong>g (GRIAL) of the University of<br />

Salamanca, <strong>and</strong> is the director of several projects on evaluation <strong>in</strong> education. GRIAL’S last published<br />

work dealt with the evaluation processes <strong>in</strong> e-learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> it has directed several doctoral dissertations<br />

centered <strong>in</strong> the processes of evaluation of programmes <strong>in</strong> education.<br />

Addisson Salazar is work<strong>in</strong>g towards a doctorate degree <strong>in</strong> Telecommunications at Universidad<br />

Politécnica de Valencia (UPV). He has received the BSc <strong>and</strong> MSc <strong>in</strong> Informatics from the Universidad<br />

Industrial de Sant<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong> a D.E.A. <strong>in</strong> Telecommunications from UPV <strong>in</strong> 2003. He is a researcher<br />

of the Signal Process<strong>in</strong>g Group of the Institute of Telecommunication <strong>and</strong> Multimedia Applications<br />

at UPV. His research <strong>in</strong>terest is focused on statistical signal process<strong>in</strong>g, pattern recognition, <strong>and</strong> data<br />

m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> knowledge discovery, where he has worked <strong>in</strong> different theoretical an applied problems,<br />

many of them under contract with the <strong>in</strong>dustry. His theoretical aspects of <strong>in</strong>terest are signal classification,<br />

time-frequency analysis, <strong>in</strong>dependent component analysis, <strong>and</strong> algorithms for data m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. He<br />

has participated <strong>in</strong> different Programmes of the European Community. He has published more than 70<br />

papers <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g journals <strong>and</strong> conference contributions.<br />

Antonio Seoane (1971) holds a 5-year degree <strong>in</strong> Philosophy from the University of Salamanca<br />

(Spa<strong>in</strong>) <strong>and</strong> has worked as high-school professor at the Department of Philosophy s<strong>in</strong>ce 1998; he also<br />

teaches for E-Learn<strong>in</strong>g masters degrees at both the University of Alcalá de Henares <strong>and</strong> the University<br />

of Salamanca (Spa<strong>in</strong>). Currently, he is f<strong>in</strong>ish<strong>in</strong>g two doctoral theses on ancient greek rhetoric <strong>and</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g methodology, respectively. His research<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>terest fields are the ancient rhetoric, the modern<br />

communication theory, e-learn<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>and</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g methodology. He is an active member of the Research<strong>in</strong>g<br />

GRoup on InterAction & eLearn<strong>in</strong>g (GRIAL) at the University of Salamanca, where he acts as<br />

Academic Coord<strong>in</strong>ator of Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Activities, st<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g out the E-Learn<strong>in</strong>g Master <strong>and</strong> the Onl<strong>in</strong>e Tutor<br />

Lifelong Learn<strong>in</strong>g Diploma, both from the University of Salamanca. He is author of several articles <strong>and</strong><br />

chapters regard<strong>in</strong>g his research<strong>in</strong>g fields <strong>and</strong> published <strong>in</strong> recognized reviews <strong>and</strong> volumes.<br />

Rowena S<strong>in</strong>clair is a senior lecturer <strong>in</strong> the Account<strong>in</strong>g Department of the School of Bus<strong>in</strong>ess at<br />

Auckl<strong>and</strong> University of Technology, Auckl<strong>and</strong>, New Zeal<strong>and</strong>. As a chartered accountant, Rowena has<br />

over 10 years of extensive account<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> audit<strong>in</strong>g experience <strong>in</strong> both the private <strong>and</strong> public sector<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g with both small enterprises through to large mult<strong>in</strong>ational corporations. Her teach<strong>in</strong>g areas<br />

currently focus on audit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> contextualiz<strong>in</strong>g account<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> the workplace. Her research is cur-
