schliesslich in sogenannten Schwellenländern, zumindest
was die Versorgungssituation von Menschen mit
Behinderung anbelangt, verwirklichen lassen.
2011 wurde der fünfte Europäische Kongress in Wien
dem 150. Geburtstag Rudolf Steiners gewidmet. War
das ein Augenschmaus im kaiserlichen Saal, als sich
650 festlich gekleidete Damen und Herren aus aller
Welt wienerwalzernd übers Parkett bewegten. Oder die
Gesprächskultur bei der Podiumsdiskussion mit kurz
zuvor ausgesuchten Teilnehmenden aus Deutschland,
Israel und Brasilien.
Vier Jahre später reisten wir nach Brüssel und bereicherten
den «Palast der Schönen Künste» mit einem
neuen Kunstwerk, der Sozialkunst. Nebenbei hatte
sich auf Teneriffa noch ein spanisch-portugiesischer
Kongressableger gebildet. 2018 soll dann der siebte
Brückenpfeiler errichtet und das 20-jährige Jubiläum
«In der Begegnung leben» gefeiert werden. Die nächste
Herausforderung wird jedoch vorher die Weiterentwicklung
des Impulses im nächsten Jahr sein. Nach
fünf Jahren Vorarbeit wird der erste Weltkongress in
Russland stattfinden, zu dem 1000 Menschen aus der
ganzen Welt erwartet werden.
Der Kongressimpuls ist kontinuierlich gewachsen,
gewandert und mittlerweile zu einer Bewegung geworden.
Gleich geblieben ist hingegen, dass es
sich um einen Impuls handelt, der unbezahlt und
in keine Rechtsform gegossen ist und von der freien
Initiativkraft des einzelnen lebt. Diese Kongresse
kräftigen nicht nur die Mitwirkenden, sondern auch
deren Begleiter, die Organisationen und die globale
sozialtherapeutische Gemeinschaft. Davon kann das
goldene Kongressbuch erzählen und manch einer
persönlich. Hier wird Behinderung zur Befähigung
gewandelt, um das Zwischenmenschliche in der
Welt zu verbessern. Hoffentlich finden sich weiterhin
Menschen, die sich davon begeistern lassen «in
der Begegnung zu leben» und die dann einen neuen
Kongress realisieren. Ich helfe Ihnen gerne dabei!

wheelchairs, with as many on stage as could fit. Even
then, there were no damages or injuries, which is characteristic
of these congresses es! At the end, a resolution
was composed and a surprise was revealed: The
next conference venue was already booked.
Based on these experiences and the great demand, I decided
at this time to ensure that, in addition to the ‹European
Congresses›, this impulse will be able to bear fruit
all over the world. New congresses have now been taking
place since 2009 as described above, and it is particularly
interesting to note that they have been realized almost
exclusively in so called developing countries, given the
lack of support there for people with disabilities.
In 2011, the fifth European Congress took place in Vienna,
dedicated to the 150th birthday of Rudolf Steiner.
What a feast for the eyes, when 650 festively dressed
ladies and gentlemen from all over the world took to the
ballroom floor for a Viennese waltz! And the art of conversation
in the podium discussion with spontaneously
chosen participants from Germany, Israel and Brazil.
Four years later, we travelled to Brussels and enriched
the ‹Centre For Fine Arts (Bozar)› with a new work of
art: social art. Meanwhile a Spanish and Portuguesespeaking
Congress took place on Teneriffe. The seventh
pillar of this particular bridge will be built somewhere
in 2018, and there we will celebrate the 20-year anniversary
of ‹Living in the Encounter›. But the next challenge
comes earlier: the next step of this impulse in the
coming year. After five years of preparation, the first
World Congress will take place in Russia, and 1000 participants
from all over the world are expected to attend.
The congress impulse has grown continuously, spread,
and become a movement. What has remained the
same is that this is an impulse that is unpaid and not
tied to any legal form, which stays alive thanks to the
power of individual free initiative. These congresses
strengthen not only the participants, but also those
who accompany them, the organizations, and the global
social therapeutic community. This is attested to
by the ‹Golden Congress Book›, as well as by individuals.
Here, disability is transformed into empowerment,
in order to improve human relationships in the world.
We hope that there will continue to be people who are
excited about ‹Living in the Encounter›, who will realize
a new congress. I will be happy to support them!
