und natürlich den Kindern zu helfen, war immer da. Am
meisten betroffen waren die Kinder aus den armen, sozial
ungeschützten Familien, für welche die Mahlzeiten in
diesen Einrichtungen manchmal die einzige Möglichkeit
war, Essen zu bekommen.
Heute erhält jeder Leistungsempfänger vom Staat zehn
Euro pro Monat. Von diesem Geld sollen die Gehälter für
Pädagogen sowie alle andere Kosten der Schule gedeckt
werden. Die Eltern können meist keinen Beitrag leisten,
weil alle diese Familien arm sind.
Entwicklungen und Netzwerkarbeit
Ab 1991 und bis zum heutigen Tag ist die anthroposophische
Heilpädagogik und Sozialtherapie in Georgien
in Entstehung und ringt um die eigene Identität. Es ist
grundsätzlich wichtig, in der schnell lebigen und modernen
Welt die anthroposophischen Werte zu erhalten und
doch allen Anforderungen der Zeit gerecht zu werden, die
Ansprüche des Ministeriums für Ausbildung zu berücksichtigen
und den eigenen Prinzipien treu zu bleiben. Erschwert
wird dies dadurch, dass es in der georgischen
Gesetzgebung keinen Begriff für eine alternative Pädagogik
gibt und unsere Positionen immer wieder verdeutlicht
werden müssen.
Im Jahre 2011 wurde in Georgien ein Kongress für Menschen
mit Behinderung durchgeführt. Im April 2016 hat
die fünfte Internationale Konferenz für Heilpädagogik
und Sozialtherapie anlässlich des 25-jährigen Bestehens
der Michaelschule in Tbilissi stattgefunden, an der
Gäste aus der Schweiz, Deutschland, Russland, Ukraine,
Armenien, der Türkei und Vertreter von Ministerien der
Ausbildung und der Sozialen Fürsorge teilgenommen
haben. Das Zentrum für freie Pädagogik und das Haus
für Sozialtherapie sind Mitglieder des internationalen
Projektes KRUG (Ausbildungsnetzwerk in Kirgisien, Russland,
Ukraine, Georgien).
Der Verein für seelenpflegebedürftige Menschen ist Mitglied
des internationalen Kreises für Heilpädagogik und
Sozialtherapie. In Georgien konnten sich die Heilpädagogik
und Sozialtherapie nur dank der Hilfe und finanziellen
Unterstützung der Freunde aus Deutschland,
der Schweiz und Belgien entwickeln, die bis heute fortgesetzt
wird. Ohne Hilfe unserer Partnerorganisationen
und den «Freunden der Erziehungskunst» würde unsere
Arbeit nicht gelingen.

The socio-political and economic situation
In 1991 Georgia was facing considerable economic difficulties.
There was no gas, electricity or heating and
public transport was not working. Social institutions received
no money at all but had to rely on help from
friends. There has nevertheless always been great enthusiasm
and the wish to work and to develop anthroposophical
curative education and social therapy and, of
course, the will to help the children with special needs.
The situation was worst for children from poor, socially
vulnerable families. The meals they were given in these
centres were sometimes the only food they could get.
Today, everyone who is entitled to public benefits receives
ten Euros per month from the state. This money
has to cover the teachers’ salaries and all other school
expenses. Most parents are too poor to be able to pay
school fees.
Developments and networking
Anthroposophical curative education and social therapy
started in Georgia in 1991 and is still struggling to establish
its own identity. In our fast-paced modern world
it is very important to retain the anthroposophical values
and remain faithful to our principles while trying
to meet the needs of our time and to accommodate the
demands of the ministry for education. This situation is
not helped by the fact that Georgian legislation does
not include the concept of alternative education and
that we therefore keep having to explain our approach.
In 2011 Georgia hosted a congress for people with disabilities.
In April 2016 the fifth International Curative
Education and Social Therapy Conference took place
here in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Michael
School in Tbilisi. Guests from Switzerland, Germany,
Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and Turkey attended the
conference, as did representatives of the ministries for
education and social welfare. The centre for independent
education and the Social Therapy House are both
members of the international KRUG project (a training
network spanning Kirgizia, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia).
The association for people with special needs is a member
of the International Curative Education and Social
Therapy Council. We owe it to the ongoing help and
financial support from friends in Germany, Switzerland
and Belgium that it was possible to develop curative
education and social therapy in Georgia. Our work could
not flourish without the help from our partner organizations
and the Friends of Rudolf Steiner Education.
