Medical Laboratory Technician 3506<br />
LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />
1 year/3 semesters Fall, Winter Ontario College Certificate Morningside<br />
Due to an increasing number of seniors and new technologies, Canada’s health occupations are<br />
growing. Be at the centre of it all as a medical laboratory technician. Our curriculum — based on the<br />
national (CSMLS) and provincial standards (MLPAO, formerly OSMT) of practice for entry-level<br />
medical laboratory assistants/technicians — is delivered in a compressed format that gets you into<br />
the workforce faster. The program will emphasize proficiency in collecting blood samples and<br />
performing ECGs, as well as assisting with various tasks such as microbiology streaking, in a safe<br />
and ethical manner. During your final semester, you will participate in a clinical internship field<br />
placement.<br />

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)<br />
or equivalent, or mature student status<br />
(19 years or older)<br />
• English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent<br />
(minimum grade required) or take the<br />
Centennial College English Skills Assessment<br />
for Admission<br />
• Mathematics Grade 12 C, M or U, or<br />
equivalent (minimum grade required) or take<br />
a Centennial College Engineering Math Skills<br />
Assessment for Admission<br />
• Biology Grade 11 or 12 C or U, or equivalent<br />
(official transcript or credential evaluation is<br />
required)<br />
• English language proficiency<br />
Notes:<br />
1. Technicians employed in this sector should not be<br />
suffering from a mental or physical disorder that could<br />
affect their ability to practice in a safe manner.<br />
2. Applicants to this program require three or more<br />
consecutive full years at a recognized secondary or<br />
postsecondary education institution in a school where<br />
English is the primary language of instruction and<br />
communication.<br />
