Retail sales of baked goods in Canada are expected to reach more than $6 billion in 2<strong>02</strong>2. That<br />
means the sector needs professionals who not only have fundamental baking and pastry arts skills<br />
but also possess menu design, purchasing, planning and execution, and baking management<br />
abilities. You will gain this know-how in Centennial’s baking and pastry arts labs, on-campus café,<br />
restaurant and event space. The hands-on experience will lead to a 14-week work-integrated learning<br />
opportunity. Important industry certifications such as Smart Serve, Safe Food Handlers, CPR and<br />
It’s Your Shift (a training and awareness program to prevent sexual harassment and violence) will<br />
complement your diploma.<br />

From large companies such as commercial bakeries to launching your own cake shop, there is a<br />
demand for professional bakers. This program will establish the foundational baking skills you need<br />
to start and excel in the sector. Through experiential learning opportunities in realistic settings —<br />
including Centennial’s commercial bake lab, and an on-campus café, restaurant and event space<br />
— you will learn everything from fine decorating and finishing to large quantity production techniques.<br />
You will graduate with industry certifications such as Smart Serve, Safe Food Handlers and CPR as<br />
well as It’s Your Shift (a training and awareness program to prevent sexual harassment and violence).<br />
