2 years/4 semesters Fall, Winter Ontario College Diploma Morningside
As Canada’s population ages, health care professionals — including pharmacy technicians — will be
in high demand. This program, which offers a dynamic curriculum based on the National Association
of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) competencies, will help you gain the scope of required
skills. In a learner-centred environment, you will become adept in receiving, ordering and managing
inventory; preparing, dispensing and compounding medications; interacting with patients and health
care providers; and assisting in the provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy services.
You will benefit from classroom and hands-on practice in onsite labs that include community
dispensing, institution/long-term care and sterile preparations. Three work experience placements
will round out the program.
Note: To practice as a pharmacy technician in Ontario, you will be required to complete the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada
exam and register with the Ontario College of Pharmacists according to its licensing requirements.
VINCENT LE, CENTENNIAL ALUMNUS
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
“Centennial has faculty members coming from different
elements of the profession — some even work in a
community setting and deal more with patient interactions.
In the Pharmacy program, you have to be well rounded.
You can’t focus on just one aspect of the profession, as
you must be able to deal with various situations and
practices within your scope of practice.”
