Polished communication, human relations and administrative skills combined with business world<br />

experience, and knowledge of current trends, business practices and related technology requirements<br />

will prepare you to work in office administration. Gain these skills at Centennial in a supportive small<br />

class environment led by experienced professors. Theory and practical application will include<br />

topics such as: word processing, document production, office procedures, computer applications,<br />

transcription, communications and cloud computing. There are pathways from the General program<br />

to Centennial’s Office Administration – Health Services (2603), Office Administration – Legal (26<strong>02</strong>)<br />

and Office Administration – Executive (2606) programs.<br />

If you thrive off of dynamic working environments, a career in health care office administration may be<br />

for you. Your ability to efficiently run an office will play an important role in ensuring patients receive<br />

quality care. With training from this program, you will gain organizational and clinical support skills<br />

to assist both medical professionals and their patients. Your courses will include essential health<br />

care support topics such as: medical terminology, anatomy for health administration, medical<br />

transcription, medical office procedures, electronic health record management, computerized OHIP<br />

billing, and diagnostic and lab procedures. During a work placement, you will apply your learning to<br />

various real-life scenarios in a health care setting.<br />

Combining your interest in the legal system with office administration will open doors to a career in<br />

law firms, government agencies, corporate legal departments and other legal offices. You will build an<br />

understanding of current Canadian law issues, and become adept in specialized practice areas such<br />

as civil litigation, family law, real estate, wills and estate. Courses will balance theory with practical<br />

skills such as legal document preparation using word processing, legal terminology, law firm office or<br />

corporate legal department procedures, and the use of specialized legal office software. A two-dayper-week<br />

field placement will create an opportunity to apply your learning in a real-world setting.<br />

Note: Upon graduation, you will have the option to advance your education by seamlessly transferring into Centennial’s Law Clerk<br />

program (2804).<br />
