Fitness and Health Promotion 9320<br />
LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />
2 years/4 semesters Fall Ontario College Diploma Progress<br />
This program will serve as preparation for entering work environments such as community, corporate<br />
and commercial fitness settings, and hospitals. Curriculum will emphasize hands-on training in<br />
labs and field placements. The practical approach will cover anatomy and physiology, fitness<br />
assessment, injury management, nutrition, fitness marketing, mental illness and wellness, older<br />
adult and special populations programming, Olympic weightlifting, physical literacy, and Long-Term<br />
Athlete Development (LTAD). You will be ready to become a certified personal trainer according to the<br />
CSEP-CPT and a group exercise leader according to the Ontario Fitness Council requirements, after<br />
graduation. Additional industry certifications from Canada Fitness Professional (canfitpro) and Twist<br />
Sport Conditioning are available in-curriculum.<br />

1 semester Fall, Winter, Summer Ontario College Certificate Morningside<br />
Food service workers in health care settings enjoy numerous career options thanks to their varied<br />
knowledge. Developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, professional<br />
organizations and employers, this program will ensure the know-how you need, while meeting current<br />
government standards and employer requirements. Lectures and incorporated, practical food lab<br />
experience will teach you about quantity food preparation, basic therapeutic diets and nutrition,<br />
sanitation and safety practices, effective communication and quality customer service. You will<br />
also participate in a three-week field placement. In addition to your certificate, you will obtain<br />
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Worker Safety training and have<br />
the opportunity to secure a TrainCan Basics Food Safety certificate.<br />
