2 years/4 semesters Fall Ontario College Diploma Ashtonbee
With training from this program — which reflects best field practices, provides relevant knowledge
and addresses current issues — you will be prepared for various roles within the field. Your strong
foundation in understanding intellectual disabilities will result from a curriculum guided by years
of field study and work, and by personal relationships with people with intellectual disabilities.
Through in-class, hands-on practice (projects, seminars, community observations, Internet searches,
teamwork and electronic communication) and two field placements, the program will cover a wide
range of topics. Among them will be: life experiences of those with intellectual disabilities, the
nature of intellectual disabilities, effecting positive change, and personal support requirements and
Note: This program is taught using a combination of modalities. Courses may be taught face-to-face, online or in blended/hybrid
combination of both online and traditional classroom teaching.
