Modernizations have almost totally stopped and
consequently the sale of spare parts fallen.
In general there is no activity up to now except
for public jobs.
Construction has been stopped since March 20
and then it has restarted in some cities with low
population density. New installations have been
allowed only for public jobs or essential use such
as hospitals resulting from biddings.
At the moment we are writing, the national
government is helping small and medium
companies by paying a percentage of the wages.
But these companies must fulfill a series
of conditions to get that help.
The recovery will depend on the quarantine
flexibility of the building industry. Our plans will
depend on this industry. We have noticed that
the construction cost value is the lowest
in a long time (measured in US dollars, which
is the currency of exchange in real estate), so we
hope that when the situation normalizes,
we will have a speedy recovery.
BRAZILIAN MARKET CHANGING FOR
MERCOSUL AND EU AGREEMENT
The eighth largest economy in the world and
the sixth largest population is changing to
be prepared for the Mercosul and EU trade
agreement. And there are lot of challenges and
opportunities in the lift market.
The most important news for the future of the lift
market is the agreement between the European
Union and Mercosul. The numbers are very
strong and a good business relationship can
result in great potential. The goal of the new
EU-Mercosul trade deal is to:
• remove these barriers and help EU firms
(especially smaller ones) to export more;
• strengthen worker’s rights;
• ensure environmental protection
and encourage companies to act responsibly.
The agreement represents a win-win for both
the EU and Mercosul, creating opportunities
for growth and jobs for both sides.
ITALIAN COMPANIES
Many foreign lift parts companies are already
making business in Brazil.
These are the Italians companies working in Brazil:
• GMV started doing business with local office
in 1996 and in the next year they opened
a branch;
• Vegalift started doing business in Brazil
with local office in 2012 and started local
production in 2014;
• Giovenzana opened one commercial office
in 2015. This became a branch in 2020
with a manufacturing unit
(Giovenzana Connecting Brasil Ltda);
• Draka (Prysmian Group) hasa plant
of the Elevators Dpt. in Londrina, not far
from San Paolo;
• Montanari has an exclusive distributor.
diminuita.
preparata all’accordo commerciale del Mercosul
e dell’UE.
piccole) a esportare di più;
• rafforzare i diritti dei lavoratori;
AZIENDE ITALIANE
Molte società estere di componenti per ascensori
hanno già avviato attività in Brasile.
Queste sono le aziende italiane che lavorano
in Brasile:
1996 e l’anno successivo ha aperto una filiale;
nel 2014;
produttiva (Giovenzana Connecting Brasil Ltda);
• Draka (Prysmian Group) ha uno stabilimento
della Divisione Elevators a Londrina,
non lontano da San Paolo;
• Montanari ha un distributore esclusivo.
