ASSESSED HAZARDS
Let us no linger in reporting the basic table
of the standard while we will only list
the hazards of the recently published version
(2019) added to those already included
in the 2003 version.
1.3 Inadequate firefighters lift
1.5 No or inadequate earthquake resistance
2.19 Too large distance between leading edges
of car and landing doors
4.4 Inadequate strength of car doors
4.11 No or inadequate protective device
(150 N) for re-opening of power operated
doors other than sliding doors
4.21 No car door restrictor where the landing
door locking device is accessible
when the car door is opened outside
of the door zone
5.9 No emergency lighting on the car roof
8.1 Inadequate machine brake (only one
brake set)
9.5 No or inadequate stopping device
at the machine in the machinery space
10.1 No earth fault protection in circuits
with electric safety devices or in circuits
controlling the brake or the down valve
10.5 No or inadequate inspection control station
in the pit.
CONCLUSIONS
We suggest our kind readers a careful
examination of EN 81-80:2019 Standard which,
although not harmonised because it does
not refer to new installations, is of considerable
importance to help remove the disparity existing
in our country with regard to the safety of lift
users who, on a hypothetical scale from 1 to 10,
may find lifts with a very low (towards zero)
or - fortunately - very high (towards 10) level.
The new version of the EN 81-80 European
Standard can give an important contribution
to the movement already existing, but never
supported by the Authorities in our country,
to remove from service those lifts which
are not very safe and in any case with
an absolutely insufficient level of safety.
Reading the hazards foreseen by the standard
brings information, analysis and answers
to the issue. •
PERICOLI ESAMINATI
4.11 Protezione assente o inadeguata (150 N)
per riapertura porte automatiche scorrevoli
orizzontali
4.21 Assenza «RESTRICTOR» se serratura
porta di piano è accessibile se porta
di cabina aperta fuori della zona porte
5.9 Assenza di illuminazione di emergenza
sul tetto della cabina
8.1 Freno non adeguato (solo 1 elemento)
9.5 Assenza o inadeguatezza dell’interruttore
di arresto della macchina (nello spazio
del macchinario)
10.1 Nessuna protezione contro guasto a terra
CONCLUSIONI
