The harmonisation
of the lift standards
L’armonizzazione delle
norme per gli ascensori

his article is meant to inform our
readers of the latest news relevant to the
evolution of the harmonization process
of European standards for lifts that in some cases
we can define as “pending”, as reported
in previous issues of Elevatori Magazine.
We cannot dwell as we would like on the subject
for reasons of both space and time, since
the facts we are about to describe occurred only
a few days before going to press with this issue
of the magazine.
We will be able to be more precise in the next
issue, also thanks to some further news spread by
official channels and which may help to clarify.
We would like to explain what happened,
starting with the good news, which states that
harmonisation (“citation” in the Official Journal
of the European Union - OJEU) of the EN 81-20
and EN 81-50 standards is imminent.
Therefore, the above-mentioned 2014 standards
will be “quoted” and published in a later version,
thus giving the official start to the harmonisation
also of the additional standards, appropriately
modified with references to EN 81-20
and EN 81-50, instead of the previous EN 81-1
and EN 81-2, with the aim of harmonisation
for the second quarter of 2023. We have to wait
at least some additional three years.
The less pleasant news is that the harmonisation
of EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 will be conferred
as an exceptional and non-repeatable fact,
because the proposed texts have however
received also important comments
from the Commission’s HAS Advisors.

notizie per quanto riguarda l’evoluzione
del processo di armonizzazione delle norme
europee per gli ascensori che in certi casi
possiamo definire “in sospeso”, come segnalato
nei numeri precedenti di Elevatori Magazine.
Non potremo dilungarci come vorremmo
sull’argomento per motivi sia di spazio sia di tempo,
dal momento che la conoscenza dei fatti che stiamo
per descrivere è avvenuta solo qualche giorno prima
di andare in stampa con questo numero della rivista.
Potremo essere più precisi nel prossimo numero,
anche grazie a qualche ulteriore notizia diffusa da
canali ufficiali e che potrà essere di chiarimento.
Desideriamo spiegare quanto è successo
iniziando dalla notizia buona, che afferma essere
prossima l’armonizzazione (“citazione” nella
Gazzetta Ufficiale dell’Unione europea – GUUE)
delle norme EN 81-20 ed EN 81-50.
Quindi le predette norme del 2014 saranno
“citate” e pubblicate in una versione successiva,
dando così il via ufficiale all’armonizzazione
anche delle norme supplementari, opportunamente
modificate con i riferimenti alle EN 81-20
ed EN 81-50, anziché alle precedenti EN 81-1
e EN 81-2, con l’obiettivo di armonizzazione per
il secondo trimestre del 2023. Dovranno passare
quasi altri tre anni. La notizia meno piacevole
è che l’armonizzazione delle norme EN 81-20
ed EN 81-50 sarà conferita come fatto eccezionale
e non ripetibile, perché i testi proposti hanno
comunque ricevuto osservazioni anche importanti
da parte dei Consulenti HAS della Commissione.
