LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO EMPOWER INDIAN WOMEN
With a strong commitment to creating a safe and trusted space for married Indian women online,
the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Healofy, Mr. Shubham Maheshwari has
played a significant role in making Healofy India’s Largest Women Social Network
Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Computer Science from the National
Institute of Technology, Warangal, Mr.
Shubham Maheshwari started his career as a
Software Developer at CodeNation (Trilogy) and
Flipkart. He is passionate about using technology
to leverage the power of communities for the
safety and empowerment of women.
With the help and support of his friend, Mr.
Gaurav Aggarwal, an alumnus of IIT Guwahati,
he started Healofy as a platform that addressed
married Indian women’s needs for instant access
to expert advice and relevant regional content
across different interest areas such as pregnancy,
“Under his leadership, Healofy
envisions to help women attain
financial independence by
helping them earn from home
via network e-commerce”
food, fashion, lifestyle, etc.
Understanding that marriage, and life
immediately after, represented a significant
turning point in the lives of Indian women, the duo
set their sights on bridging the gaps in relatable
and credible regional women-focused content and
set about building what is today India’s fastestgrowing
Women Social Network.
CREATING A STRONG WOMEN COMMUNITY
Healofy’s unwavering focus is on bringing Indian
women together on a platform where their need
for credible regional/vernacular information is
addressed, their opinions are heard, and their
personalities are valued. What makes Healofy’s
communities unique is that they facilitate smoother
peer-to-peer interaction in users’ mother tongues,
by using innovations which include allowing a user
to type regional words using English characters,
which the app converts instantly into the regional
script.
A key reason behind Healofy’s strong adoption
and the resoundingly positive feedback it receives
from its users every day is due to the inclusive
and user- centric approach it takes to address
the needs of Indian women across teams and
functions, and on an everyday basis.
Under his quintessential leadership, Healofy
envisions to help women attain financial
independence by helping them earn from home
via network e-commerce. By allowing women to
form meaningful connections and relationships
with other women in the Healofy community,
the aim is to replicate the offline experience of
networking and ‘shopping together’ in the online
world. A strong sense of trust and confidence
in the platform is enabled by allowing women
to become part of communities on the basis of
similar language, location, stage of life, and areas
of interest.
Healofy has raised $9.5 million in funding
from Omidyar Network India, an investment firm
focused on social impact; the BabyTree Group
China’s largest parenting platform and a publiclytraded
unicorn; BAce Capital - a fund anchored by
Alibaba’s Ant Financial Services Group; and most
recently, an undisclosed sum from Hiro Mashitaled
Japanese investment firm, M&S Partners.
