Sanjay Khan is a veteran film actor, producer, director, entrepreneur,
and an author who is best remembered for his brilliant performances
and memorable roles in Hindi movies such as Ek Phool Do Maali, Dosti,
Dus Lakh, Humsafar, and much more. Sanjay Khan debuted on the
silver screen in the year 1964 with Chetan Anand’s war film Haqeeqat

Sanjay Khan has acted in more than 30
Hindi movies. Because of his spectacular
popularity and success in the motion
picture industry, Sanjay Khan was
given the title of Jubilee Star. Most of
his movies were blockbusters and are

and directed Hindi movies such as
Chandi Sona in 1977, Abdullah in 1980,
and Kala Dhanda Goray Log in 1986—

Ventured into the Small
Screen With a Bang!
After bidding adieu to Hindi cinema
in 1986, the seasoned actor shifted his
focus towards the small screen. He,
along with his brother Akbar Khan,
took the initiative of directing India’s
first mega historical fiction TV series—
The Sword of Tipu Sultan, which was
premiered on Doordarshan’s National
Television in 1990. Sanjay Khan’s role in
the mega-series as the great Tipu Sultan
had been applauded and appreciated by
audiences worldwide.
He was also the producer and director
of TV-series Jai Hanuman, which
was aired on DD Metro from 1997 to
2000. Additionally, he also directed and
produced popular TV series such as The
Great Maratha and 1857 Kranti.
Entrepreneurial
excellence
In 1997, Sanjay Khan designed and
launched a 150-room high-end resort
Golden Palms Hotel and Spa at Tumkur
Road in Bangalore, India. The five-star
deluxe resort of approximately 300,000
square feet was later sold off in 2010.
The actor-turned-entrepreneur now
plans to set up a 1000-acre mega theme
park across the Yamuna in Agra. The
Seven Cities Theme Park will be designed
to offer an immersive experience
built around seven well-known Indian
historical and mythological cities.

Sanjay Khan has authored his
autobiography ‘The Best Mistakes of My
Life’ to recount his action-packed life.
His autobiography is an assorted mix
of the stories behind his outstanding
films, his bonding with his family and
co-stars, his real estate projects, his
interactions with world leaders, and the
fire tragedy on the sets of The Sword of
Tipu Sultan where he got 65% thirddegree
burns. The mammoth success
of his autobiography has inspired him to
work on his second book Assalwaliakum
Watan.
A real gem
Sanjay Khan stands as an epitome of
inspiration to many actors of the younger
generations. He has been honored with
numerous awards and accolades for his
contribution to the Indian cinema and
television, as well as his entrepreneurial
skills and for making a positive impact
in the society. The dapper actor has
been honored with the Achiever of
Millennium Award in 1999 and The
Millennium Achievers Award in 2000. In
the year 2009, he received the Lifetime
Achievement Award by Screen Star.
Besides winning The Rajiv Gandhi
Excellence Award and The Gem of India
Award for Excellence in 1993, he has
also been conferred with The Aashirwad
Award, The Arch of Excellence Award,
National Citizen’s Award, and Udyog
Ratna Gold Medal Award in 1994.
Sanjay Khan is also the recipient of
The Glory of India Award and Super
Achiever of India Award (1995). Last but
not least, he also received the Biographer
of the year award from Power Brands
at BFJA (Bollywood Film Journalist’s
Awards) in 2019.
The legendary actor is also a real life
hero, and is an avid donor with regard
to various social causes. He actively
participates in charitable causes and
plans to set up a free charitable hospital in
Bangalore to provide the best healthcare
facilities to the underprivileged section
of society.
