Pyare Khan

Turning the Wheels of Fortune with Sheer Determination & Grit

Despite his humble beginnings as an auto driver, Mr. Pyare Khan’s

aspirations to excel have led to establishment of Ashmi Road Transport

Pvt Ltd – a company with a turnover of 400 crores and strength of over

500 employees. Owing to his extraordinary entrepreneurial skills, he

has spread the business all across the country and abroad

An Epitome Of Hard Work &

Perseverance

Hailing from a very humble background,

Mr. Pyare Khan spent his childhood

selling oranges at the Nagpur railway

station. The unseen struggle behind

his success story started since his

childhood. His mother took care of the

family of four children by doing odd

jobs. After getting a driving license, Mr

Khan started working with a courier

company at the age of 18, but left soon.

His never-say-die spirit encouraged him

to try new way-outs. Later, he bought

an auto-rickshaw and started earning

his livelihood with it, but this business

too did not last long.

Besides these businesses, in those

days he also played keyboard in Melody

Makers Group and that is when the

idea of starting a ferry business struck

his mind. He bought a bus and used it

to pick and drop his group members to

the event’s venue, but it proved a futile

venture. Still, he did not lose hope,

gathered himself again and switched to

trucking business in 2004.

making his mark with A

Game-Changing Move

Mr. Khan started the transportation

business with a bank loan of 11 lakhs

from ING Vysya Bank in Nagpur –

a move that proved to be a turning

point in his life. He bought a truck

from Tata Motors and started using it

for transporting vegetables and other

goods. He delivered consignments even

to remote corners of India where other

transporters were unwilling to go.

Eventually, his hard work paid off

and the business turned out to be a

profitable venture that earned him a

great repute and earnings. He paid

the loan amount in 2 years, well before

the due time. Since then there has

been no looking back. Over the years,

under the quintessential leadership of

this inspirational leader, the company

has spread over different states in

India with 10 branch offices across the

country and is generating jobs for many

people.

Riding high on the waves of

success

Mr. Khan was invited along with 18

other contestants in a contest for

young transport entrepreneurs in 2018,

organized jointly by IIM-Ahmedabad

and Mahindra Truck and Bus. Among

the 18 other contestants, 2 contestants

were from the United States and

presented their cases using laptops

and PowerPoint presentations, while

Mr. Khan presented his case in Hindi

without using any gadget. However, he

was surprised when he was declared

winner of the contest and won the top

prize.

Ultimately, his dedication and

earnestness was recognized at a

distinguished platform. His success

story was chosen as a case study by

IIM-A for its management students

all across the country. No wonder his

rags to riches story is an inspiration for

one and all and would certainly inspire

numerous others to follow his lead.

Marching towards a bright

future

Currently, Mr. Khan owns a fleet of

over 200 prime trucks from reputed

organisations such as Tata Motors,

Ashok Leyland and Volvo and hires

around 3000 trucks per day to ferry

steel and power infrastructure materials

across India and abroad for some

prominent organisations including KEC

International, JSW Steel, Tata and

SAIL.

A determined and visionary

entrepreneur, Mr. Khan’s major focus

is on expanding his business and

generating more jobs. By the end of this

year, he plans to further increase his

fleet size and expand his branch offices

to 20 all across the nation.

“He owns a fleet of

200+ prime trucks

from Tata Motors,

Ashok Leyland & Volvo

& hires around 3000

trucks per day to ferry

infrastructure materials

across India & abroad”
