the highest levels in the Government
of India in the capacity of Technical
Advisor to Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, and consistently researching
& formulating innovative practices,
Dr. Hema Divakar, CEO & Chairman of
ARTIST (Asian Research and Training
Institute for Skill Transfer), has shown
unparalleled commitment for more than
the last three decades towards bringing a
real transformation in the perception and
resolution of healthcare problems.
The results are astounding, as she
has collaborated with the Government
of Karnataka to make 2,00,000 women
workers in garment factories of Bengaluru
Anaemia-free, with the Government of
Karnataka in Public–Private Partnerships
for primary healthcare, with the World
Diabetes Foundation to build capacity and
implementing recommended guidelines,
and with the Federation of International
Obgyns for implementing contraceptive
usage in public hospitals.
A Gifted Specialist in Healthcare
Having been trained in the field of Obgyn
care, Dr. Hema runs the Divakar’s Speciality
Hospital in Bangalore in the capacity of its
Consultant and Medical Director. Focusing
on offering excellent women’s healthcare
matching world’s best standards, her
unparalleled commitment is conspicuous
in her highly professional and ethical
services as her Hospital is counted among
the leading hospitals of India in women
healthcare.
She has been working on improving the
overall healthcare situation in India and
abroad through several menopause and
cancer awareness programmes for women
through Television, Social Media, Women
Organizations and Corporates for more
than a decade. She feels, “India needs to
look at building a health force targeted at
adolescents, and build health care systems
to deal with the challenges that come with
adolescence. We need to build a healthy
generation next.”
Committed towards continuous
professional development with a
community service spirit, she has also
been leading women healthcare institutes
to support the development of healthcare
services through national, local and state
organizations particularly in India. Towards
this cause, she has represented India at
various international platforms.

Her span of leadership as the President
of the world’s largest body of specialist
ObGyns – Federation of ObGyn Societies
of India (FOGSI) – witnessed a series
of ingenious approaches with decisive
progress. Her efforts brought remarkable

approach towards important issues

She is not satisfied with one Dr. Hema
Divakar selflessly dedicating her life for
others’ welfare, and has been on a mission to
create hundreds of specialist professionals
in her own image while expanding her
highly respected organization, ARTIST.
Thus, gradually developing a centre of
excellence in women’s healthcare, which
focuses on women of ‘all’ ages and offering
them high-quality solutions both before
and beyond pregnancy, she has also
established a center for skill enhancement
and upgradation.
Displaying extraordinary vision and
absolute dedication to improve women’s
healthcare in India and Asia, Dr. Hema
Divakar has carefully created a group of
expert healthcare professionals, leaders
of professional organisations (national
and international), key opinion makers,
researchers & academicians, and leading
clinicians in practice – a mix of the best
resources under one umbrella in the form
of ARTIST.
Through ARTIST, Dr. Hema Divakar
is training all the frontline healthcare
providers. Not only are specialists in O&G
trained further and upskilled through
short and smart modules, but also the
postgraduates, medical officers, staff
nurses, health counselors, health educators,
and general womenfolk of all ages.
Her phenomenal and illustrious work
through ARTIST has been variously

Welfare in India. ARTIST has also won the
CME Excellence Innovator Award.

Health & Family Welfare in recognition of
her exemplary services towards upliftment
of women’s health in India, Lifetime
Achievement Award from Diabetes in
Pregnancy Study Group of India, felicitation
with Social Entrepreneurship Award
from MSD and USAIDS, CME Excellence
Award and CSR Impact Award from IHW
– Integrated Health and Wellness Council,
and being the fifth Indian woman to
receive the prestigious FIGO (International
Federation of Gynaecology & Obstetrics)
Women Achiever’s Award.
Back to the Society
Through her exceptional efforts towards
serving the society and building a new
and better India, she has established the
Divakar’s Service Trust, which helps needy
women and children obtain specialized
healthcare services. Focusing on rural
health, her Trust has been actively involved
in several outreach programs, including
school health programs of anaemia control
of over 45,000 children every year.
She exhorts people to focus at a deeper
level towards resolving their health
problems, “To feel rich and live life to its
best, remember the simple mantra ‘Health
is Wealth’. Set your priorities in life to
prevent illness and promote wellness, for
yourself and people around you.”
