The School of Public Affairs consists of (Wo componems: the Schaefer Cemer for Public
Policy, which conducts research and public service projects and sponsors conferences and
other special programs; and the Division of Governmem and Public Administration,
which currently offers the B.A. in Governmem and Public Policy, the Master of Public
Adminisnation (M.P.A.), the Doctor of Public Adminisnation (D.P.A.) , the B.S. and M .S.
in Health Systems Managemem. and the J.D.lM.P.A. with the University of Baltimore
School of Law.
STUDENTS
The approximately 2,000 men and women enrolled in the Yale Gordon College of Liberal
Arrs-47 percem in graduate programs-represem about 43 percem of the total University
of Baltimore studem popuJation.
The average age ofstudems in the College is 32, and more than half are women. About
(Wo-thirds of all studems take evening classes, and more than half attend parr time. Some
graduate studems emer master's degree programs right after finishing college, although
most have been working a few or many years in a wide variety of jobs. Some students are
seeking advancemenr in their currem careers. Others are preparing to change careers.This
diversity of age and experience is an imporranr and invigorating parr ofcampus life.
FACULTY
In teaching, research, scholarship, and service to the community, faculty members of the
Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts are leaders in the University community. Full-time
facullY members teach both graduate and undergraduate courses, conduct sponsored
research, publish, and engage in public service as consulrams, board members, and volunteers.
Among its teaching faculty the College also includes a cadre of adjunct professors
who are leading professionals in dozens of fields , from governmem to the arrs, from nonprofit
organizations to business.These adjunct faculty members comribute in significam
ways to creating and advancing professional applications of the liberal arts. AJso, a number
of the University's chief administrative officers serve as affiliate faculty members.

FACII.lTlES
Classrooms, laboratories, and faculty offices for the Yale Gordon College of Liberal ArtS
are located in the Academic Cemer, Charles Hall, the Charles Royal Building, and St. Paul
Hall. The college shares the University of Baltimore's Langsdale Library, Academic
Computing Center, and Academic Resource Center with other componems of the
University.
Advanced laboratories in the School of Communications Design support studem work
in hypermedia, graphics and desktop publishing, audio/video production, and non-linear
editing. These laboratories provide high-end Macimosh and Windows computers, web
