Prosthetic Design
Wax-Up/Set-Up
The wax-up or set-up is prepared on the
working cast in the dental laboratory.
This permits planning of optimal tooth
positioning from both functional and
esthetic perspectives. It also enables early
recognition of the need for augmentation
procedures if a discrepancy is
detected between the atrophied crestal
bone and the required position for a
prosthetic crown.
The ideal articulation pattern to aim at
is a situation-adapted anterior-to-cuspid
line with early disclusion of the posteriors
("freedom in centric" should be possible).
