Establishes the foundational strands, evident throughout Scripture, <strong>of</strong> God’s revelation <strong>of</strong> His character and plans and <strong>of</strong> His view<br />
<strong>of</strong> human nature. This introduction to the literature <strong>of</strong> the Old Testament and the history <strong>of</strong> the Jewish people through the post-<br />
Exilic period will emphasize the relevance <strong>of</strong> the revelation for today.<br />

Christian Foundations – New Testament<br />
A survey <strong>of</strong> the New Testament from Matthew through Revelation. The course will open up an understanding <strong>of</strong> the person <strong>of</strong><br />
Jesus, his teaching and ministry, including his final days, death and resurrection. The course surveys the historical background,<br />
content and theology <strong>of</strong> each book, and integrates the background and message <strong>of</strong> each book with the rest <strong>of</strong> the New Testament.<br />

This class introduces the biblical languages and the tools that are available to research in the original languages.<br />

Origin and Transmission <strong>of</strong> the Bible<br />
A detailed examination <strong>of</strong> the process by which the Bible came into existence and was transmitted through history to the present<br />
day. The course includes discussions <strong>of</strong> inspiration, canon, manuscript evidence, textual criticism, and translation, as well as<br />
application <strong>of</strong> these topics to ministry. (Prerequisite: Biblical Interpretation)<br />

Biblical Interpretation<br />
A study <strong>of</strong> the principles whereby we understand, explain, apply, and live God’s word. Provides an understanding <strong>of</strong> how the Bible<br />
came to be and introduces the basic principles and skills required to interpret it accurately. The emphasis will be on the<br />
understanding and application <strong>of</strong> scripture to today’s world. This class is a prerequisite for all upper-division Bible and Theology<br />
classes. (Prerequisite: ENGL101a)<br />

New Testament Exposition (F)<br />
This is a course <strong>of</strong> study about the exegesis and exposition <strong>of</strong> the epistles <strong>of</strong> the New Testament. A method <strong>of</strong> both researching<br />
epistolary texts and communicating them expositionally in contemporary venues will be explored and implemented. Attention will<br />
also be paid to the place <strong>of</strong> prayer and the practice <strong>of</strong> the principles <strong>of</strong> spiritual authority in the character development <strong>of</strong> the<br />
expositor.<br />

A basic introduction to biblical Hebrew designed to introduce the basics <strong>of</strong> vocabulary and grammar as prerequisites for<br />
translating the Old Testament. The courses will highlight the contribution language study makes to understanding the richness <strong>of</strong><br />
the Old Testament.<br />
