Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Reading and Writing (F)<br />
This course is designed for developing writers. The basics <strong>of</strong> writing are covered, including topic development, focus, structure,<br />
organization, support, and mechanics. Emphasis is on the writing process from prewriting through revising. Course placement is<br />
by SAT/ACT scores. Credits not applicable to graduation.<br />

Composition I (F,S)<br />
Intensive instruction and practice in college writing, focusing on the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills required for<br />
participation in academic discourse. Includes all parts <strong>of</strong> the writing process-- prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing--with<br />
emphasis on a variety <strong>of</strong> rhetorical strategies, including argumentation. Features reading, discussion, and analysis <strong>of</strong> texts, both<br />
fiction and non-fiction. Requirement <strong>of</strong> at least 6000 written words. Placement by SAT/ACT scores.<br />
