This course is a survey <strong>of</strong> ancient Near Eastern history from the dawn <strong>of</strong> civilization to the death <strong>of</strong> Alexander the Great. The<br />
course will concentrate on the region <strong>of</strong> Mesopotamia, but will also include peripheral areas including Iran, Anatolia, Syria, and<br />
Palestine within its cultural sphere <strong>of</strong> influence. It will integrate primary sources, art, and archaeology in discussing the region.<br />
