Christian Leadership<br />

The Christian Leadership major provides students with the tools necessary to be effective leaders as Christians in non-pr<strong>of</strong>it, for<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>it, or public contexts. Individuals seeking this major will benefit from career focused instruction in the area <strong>of</strong> relational skills,<br />

leadership capabilities, and training needed to perform necessary functions in any organization. Students will be given the<br />

opportunity to explore the Scriptures and foundational truth to further their knowledge and ability to interpret critically and apply<br />

Scripture to their own life. Many students who choose this major find it foundational to the pursuit <strong>of</strong> full-time Christian ministry<br />

in various vocations. Coursework in this major provides a strong biblical foundation for personal relationships and interaction;<br />

leadership in the attainment <strong>of</strong> goals and establishing priorities; understanding the culture in which students live and work; and<br />

continued development <strong>of</strong> skills necessary to lead effectively. This major equips students to continue the pursuit <strong>of</strong> their<br />

education as a life-long experience after receiving their degree.<br />

After completing this major, students should be able to:<br />

• Demonstrate critical thinking and interpretative skills<br />

• Demonstrate an understanding <strong>of</strong> leadership theory and praxis<br />

• Demonstrate the New Testament construct <strong>of</strong> “servant-leadership”<br />

• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication<br />

Christian Leadership majors are required to take Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology as prerequisites to<br />

the major.<br />
