Transfer Student<br />
2010-2011<br />
Students transferring from other colleges will be given advanced standing according to the number <strong>of</strong> transferable credits on their<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts and the grades earned in those courses. Prospective transfer students must submit <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts <strong>of</strong> their<br />
college work to the Registrar for evaluation (see “Credit Transfer Policy”).<br />
Audit Student<br />
Traditional<br />
Students may audit a course when the class is desired for<br />
personal enrichment, not academic credit. Performance<br />
classes, such as private or class music lessons, speech, or<br />
homiletics, cannot be audited. WJU alumni may audit<br />
courses on a space available basis. An enrollment fee will be<br />
charged; see schedule <strong>of</strong> fees for details.<br />
International Student<br />
SPS<br />
Persons interested in auditing SPS courses are encouraged<br />
to contact the local SPS Office for information.<br />
An international student is one who has been <strong>of</strong>ficially admitted to the <strong>University</strong> and may register for either a full-time or parttime<br />
program under an F-1 (Student) Visa issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.<br />
Probationary Student<br />
Students may be placed on Academic Probation, Financial Aid Probation, or Disciplinary Probation for a number <strong>of</strong> reasons. The<br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> probation is to alert students to problem areas and to assist in overcoming these difficulties. Students dismissed from<br />
the <strong>University</strong> for any <strong>of</strong> these reasons may not reapply for admission until a full academic year has passed.<br />
Academic Probation: Students will be placed on Academic Probation if their GPA falls below a 2.0 for the semester, regardless <strong>of</strong><br />
how many units were taken during the semester. (See section “Academic Probation”)<br />
Financial Aid Probation: In addition to remaining <strong>of</strong>f Academic Probation, students must complete 67% (2/3) <strong>of</strong> the courses for<br />
which they enroll in order to show Satisfactory Academic Progress and remain eligible for federal, state, or institutional aid.<br />
Students who do not complete 67% (2/3) <strong>of</strong> their courses will be placed on Financial Aid Probation.<br />
Disciplinary Probation: Students who have failed to live up to the standards and rules <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> and are being considered<br />
for dismissal will be placed on Disciplinary Probation.<br />
Grading Information<br />
Each instructor is responsible for determining final grades and for submitting them to the Registrar’s Office. These grades then<br />
become a part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>ficial records <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>. Grades which appear on the student’s grade report at the end <strong>of</strong> the<br />
semester are considered final unless the student identifies an error to the Registrar before six months elapse.<br />
Grade reports will be distributed to all students by mail from the Registrar approximately four weeks after the end <strong>of</strong> the semester.<br />
Grade Symbols<br />
Every pr<strong>of</strong>essor is required to submit a grade for each student registered in the course. The following grade symbols are used in<br />
reporting and recording a student’s pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in courses:<br />
